We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Identity & Access Management Engineer to join the SaaS Management team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of automations within Okta and other SaaS applications, primarily using Okta Workflows. You will play a key role in streamlining identity and access management processes, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing security.

The SaaS Management team is responsible for the overall health, optimization, and security of our core SaaS applications. This includes managing and maintaining critical services like Google Workspace, Okta, Jira, Slack, and Identity Management platforms. The team ensures seamless user experiences, efficient workflows, and cost-effectiveness across these applications. A key focus is automating processes to streamline operations, improve productivity, and enhance security across our SaaS landscape. This involves implementing and managing automations that simplify user onboarding/offboarding, license management, and other key tasks. Through all of this, the team strives to provide a delightful experience for our users, empowering them to do their best work.

Manage and maintain the Okta Identity Cloud environment, including user lifecycle management, application integrations, and security policies.

Design, develop, and deploy complex Okta Workflows to automate various identity and access management tasks (e.g., user provisioning, de-provisioning, group management, password resets, multi-factor authentication).
Continuously analyze and optimize existing Okta automations for efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
Integrate Okta with other systems and applications using Okta APIs and connectors.

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for Okta automations and processes.

Provide support and troubleshooting for Okta-related issues, including workflow failures, user access problems, and integration errors.

Adhere to security best practices and industry standards in the design and implementation of Okta automations.
Keep up-to-date with the latest Okta features, updates, and best practices.

Ensure the Okta data is backed and readily available for restorations in emergencies

Foster close collaboration with application owners and teams to ensure seamless integration.

The Role's Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements

Education:

BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Security, Engineering or Information Technology or relevant work experience.

Experience:

5+ years of industry experience in Identity and Access Management.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of Universal Directory (user/group management, directory integration), Single Sign-On (SSO) configuration (SAML, OIDC, WS-Federation), and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

  • Ability to design and build highly complex, multi-step workflows with conditional logic, loops, and error handling.

  • Expertise in using Okta's built-in connectors and creating custom connectors to integrate with other systems and APIs.

  • Deep understanding of Okta's workflow functions for data manipulation, transformations, and system interactions.

  • Ability to analyze and optimize workflow performance for efficiency and scalability.

  • Experience with managing workflow versions, testing changes, and deploying updates in a controlled manner.

  • Advanced skills in working with Okta's APIs for automation and integration with other systems.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages like JavaScript for extending Okta's functionality and creating custom integrations.

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform) for managing Okta configurations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve complex Okta-related issues.

  • Expertise in troubleshooting Okta workflows, SSO integrations, and other identity management challenges.

  • Ability to analyze Okta system logs to identify root causes of issues and performance bottlenecks.

  • Ability to create clear and concise documentation for Okta configurations, workflows, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with IT teams, HR teams, developers, and business stakeholders.

  • 5+ years of industry experience in Identity and Access Management.

  • Possess strong regular expression (Regex) skills for data manipulation and pattern matching.

  • Okta Certifications or/and other industry certifications

Pay Range

Salary: $110,000 - $124,000

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
