Job Description
OVERVIEW The Mechanical Process Engineer will be responsible for improving plant processes, optimizing ergonomic conditions, and supporting Environmental and Safety teams with mechanical engineering projects. This role will require managing projects that enhance equipment performance, ensure workplace safety, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The position also involves troubleshooting, mechanical design, and collaboration with production, maintenance, and quality teams to improve overall plant efficiency. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, implement, and commission robust and cost-efficient machinery that improves throughput, uptime, and safety while minimizing maintenance needs.
- Collaborate with department supervisors, managers, and hourly employees to ensure engineering solutions align with operational needs and safety standards.
- Support Environmental and Safety teams with mechanical engineering projects related to compliance, ergonomics, and process safety improvements.
- Ensure all designs and projects comply with OSHA safety regulations and environmental requirements prior to implementation.
- Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize workflows.
- Manage multiple projects, including budgeting, parts sourcing, scheduling, contractor coordination, and installation.
- Utilize Lean methodologies and Six Sigma principles to drive continuous improvement and maintain high production standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurring issues.
- Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Ensure technical documentation is accurately maintained, including machine drawings, spare part lists, and preventive maintenance instructions.
- Work with maintenance, electrical, and production teams to resolve equipment issues with urgency and effectiveness.
- Develop and sustain relationships with vendors, mechanical contractors, and suppliers to ensure efficient procurement and project execution.
- Provide training and guidance to production and maintenance teams on new equipment and process changes.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.

- Required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Preferred: 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in process improvement or reliability engineering.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic & pneumatic systems, and structural components.
- Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD for design and documentation purposes.
- Knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, specifications, maps, and engineering documents.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, environmental standards, and ergonomic best practices in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage budgets, timelines, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally across all levels of the organization.
- Self-motivated and capable of handling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to speak, read, and understand English fluently.
