- Implementing and overseeing the firm's associate and summer associate recruiting processes and programs in the New York office; developing and implementing creative strategies for sourcing
- Building relationships with internal stakeholders and partnering with them on recruitment strategies
- Staying current on legal recruiting strategies and trends and assessing how they impact the firm's hiring processes and programs
- Overseeing associate recruiting and Summer Associate Program budgets and ensuring compliance with approved guidelines
- Managing day-to-day recruitment process for all associate and other legal staff positions
- Assessing qualifications of lateral candidates; making recommendations for compensation for legal staff hires, coordinating offers with appropriate stakeholders and executing extension of offers
- Coordinating firm's on-campus interviewing program at assigned schools
- Working with Hiring Committee, Hiring Partner and Summer Associate Program Coordinators regarding work assignment distribution and evaluation processes
- Planning Summer Program social events; conducting Summer Associate arrival and exit interviews and scheduling and preparing agendas and supporting materials for end-of-summer Hiring Committee meetings
- Managing all reporting, metrics, and data management, and being able to report on New York data accurately
- Supervising and mentoring assigned staff in accordance with firm policies and procedures promoting an environment of teamwork, collaboration and accountability

- A minimum of five years progressive attorney recruiting experience, including 2-3 years of experience managing a team (overseeing, measuring, and managing performance, conducting reviews, developing and implementing training, and supervising day-to-day operations)
- Knowledge of employment laws related to hiring practices (EEOC)
- Experience developing and implementing legal staff recruitment plans
- Ability to communicate with public and internal personnel orally and in written form; ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously while meeting deadlines and business objectives
- Working knowledge of applicant tracking systems, specifically viRecruit; proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Skills to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on complex topics to firm personnel
- Ability to travel to other firm offices and on-campus as needed
Pay Range for Candidates in New York: $140,000 - 185,000 per year The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position.
