About the Job

The Tech Comm part-time Intellectual Property Administrative Associate will report to the Operations and Finance Manager within the Technology Commercialization office. This role is responsible for project-based objectives within the IP Admin Team.

This is a part-time position (19.50 hours per week or less) for no more than 67 work days.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and resolve items listed on the project worksheet labeled "Final Portfolio." These are a list of Invention-specific assignment issues requiring complex research and/or outreach.
  • Assistance with onboarding of one new hire in the IP Admin group. This could include identifying key educational resources, presenting key legal concepts related to IP Administration, and other related support.
  • Assistance with selection of a new cohort of student workers in the IP Admin Team.

Flexible Work Profile

The Research and Innovation Office (RIO) and Technology Commercialization (Tech Comm) endorses a "work with flexibility" approach that offers a welcoming and flexible work environment where everyone is inspired to do their best. Work location options include working fully remote, partially remote, or entirely in the office and are based on the work of the position. Some on-site work may be necessary for certain positions, even those designated as fully remote.

This position has been designated as eligible for flexible work profile 3.
Profile 3, Mostly Remote - is expected to typically work in the office/lab 1-2 days per week. Working remotely at least 3 days per week. Your dedicated office space will be in your remote work location.

Tech Comm management retains the right to modify flexible work arrangement agreements on a temporary or permanent basis for any reason at any time.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree with at least five years of experience in Intellectual Property Administration
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in HR systems, workflow management, and data tracking
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in the Tech Comm Office at the University of Minnesota
  • Experience in higher education or research administration
  • Advance degree. i.e. Juris Doctorate

Pay and Benefits

Pay Rate: $39.69
