To strengthen our team in Allentown,

we are looking for you as a(n) Process and Technology Scientist (Process Engineer).

This position supports Polymers Business through new product and process development. The position is responsible for identification and execution of incremental productivity improvement ideas, development of new procedures of limited scope and providing technical recommendations based on results. It also provides general engineering support such as various engineering calculations, process design & process safety to customers, manufacturing, R&D labs.

Job Responsibilities



  • Complete process development and execute scale-up of new products based on existing technology.
  • Translate Lab recipes for new products into practicable processes for production
  • Identifies and leads development of process technology to drive cost savings and capacity at low or no capital investment by using alternative routes or operation conditions.
  • Lead efforts in process safety for new and existing labs, and plant. This includes maintaining engineering and safety documentation for Allentown site labs
  • Provide manufacturing support related to safety, quality, efficiency, etc.
  • Troubleshoot product and process upsets with Manufacturing
  • Scopes, evaluates, and recommends purchase of lab and pilot plant equipment.
  • Performs routine engineering and process safety calculations. Documents the technical basis of the calculations and all key assumptions.
  • Supervise lab technicians in routine activities



Job Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in science such as Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Process Chemistry
  • Experience with product scale-up, technology transfer and batch processing
  • Knowledge of chemical reaction engineering and / or thermodynamics
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong commitment to environmental health and safety excellence.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time is required.
