POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Major Responsibilities



  • Support the fuels distribution functions within the Logistics Transportation Area.
  • Execute safe storage, transportation, handling, and distribution of various hazardous materials.
  • Ability to multitask and work in different areas of Logistics.
  • Daily monitoring and accurate reporting of all high pressure, cryogenic liquid system levels.
  • Operation of all high pressure Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon, Helium, Methane, Hydrogen and Compressed Air systems.
  • Delivery of all flammable, toxic, and specialty gas cylinders to appropriate storage areas.
  • Deliver or transfer Gasoline, Ethanol, Biodiesel or any other fuel, as required.
  • Pick up, transport and deliver cryogenic liquid Dewar's, high pressure cylinders, drums and chemical packages to research locations as requested.
  • Pick up empty cryogenic liquid Dewar's, high pressure cylinders, and waste drums for shipment.
  • Pick up, fill and return Liquid Argon, Liquid Nitrogen and Liquid Oxygen Dewar's to end users.
  • Perform pre-operation driver's inspections on delivery trucks, semi-tractors and trailer units.



Other Duties and Responsibilities



  • Report all safety concerns immediately to Fuel Distribution Supervisor or Logistics Manager.
  • Provide accurate reports of all transfer activities with the use of Fuel Distribution, Returnable Container (RETCON) system and Material Tracking (MTS) system scanners.
  • Responsible for ensuring cargo is secure before and during transport.
  • Transportation of hazardous material cargo and non-hazardous material cargo to and from Neil Armstrong Test Facility.
  • Operation of tow motor to load and unload large cargo items transported on the barrel delivery truck, large items include but are not limited to: drums, cryogenic liquid Dewar's, gas cylinders, cylinder 12 packs, pallets of chemicals, containment skids.
  • Delivery of hazardous material cargo to and from offsite vendor and repair facility locations.
  • Assist in filling of Methane trailers at offsite vendor location.
  • Assist in filling NASA owned Hydrogen trailers in Hydrogen Storage Area.
  • May be required to support other areas of Logistics.
  • Assist with the vendor and government owned tri-annual inventory.
  • Rigging and movement of GRC flight hardware.
  • Pickup and delivery of hazardous waste from collection locations to the Central Chemical Storage Facility.
  • Provide site and offsite support for special events utilizing a tractor trailer for movement of property.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Possession of a Commercial Driver's License with tractor/trailer and hazmat endorsement is mandatory.

Experience: Two years of tractor/trailer driving experience. Forklift experience preferred.
