Wausau Window and Wall Systems

Entry level position to lead into Designer 2 and other roles in Engineering as experience is gained. Skill sets in drafting and producing production drawings for fabrication, ensuring a quality, error-free on time product that is profitable to the company while meeting customer expectations.

POSITION DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Efficiently generate high quality production engineering packages that are complete and accurate using AutoCAD, CTO (BOM) or other tools as applicable.

  • Progressive skill sets in AutoCAD using AFS AutoCAD Standards and Drawing formats.

  • Effectively utilize the configurator (CTO) for the applicable project.

  • Actively promote high quality in your daily responsibilities.

  • Adhere and promote established SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) and Standards that are related to the Engineering Department and be willing to offer suggestions for improvements.

  • Adhere to established Safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for all associates.

  • Properly use AFS's electronic filing system in filing internal and external documents.

  • Continue to expand your knowledge of the AFS product lines.

  • Become familiar with the manufacturing process.

  • Utilize manufacturing input with the intent of producing a production package for ease of manufacturing and installation.

  • Generate production packages that are complete and accurate.

  • Display excellent work habits, a willing spirit and cooperative in performing the tasks necessary to complete a project or task in a timely way.

  • Promote the success of the Engineering Department and the company with a positive attitude.

  • Adhere to established Safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for all associates.

  • Undertake and promote job responsibilities in a manner consistent with the Company's Core Values.

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement of the engineering and manufacturing process.

  • Proficient in the use of AFS Intranet to retrieve product and process related information to perform job related duties.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Associate Degree in a design or engineering related field required. Education background must include formal AutoCAD training or equivalent software proficiency.

  • 1 or more years of experience working with the Wausau fabrication/assembly of window and/or curtainwall products in addition to formal AutoCAD training or equivalent software proficiency is also acceptable.

  • Computer software experience in the following software:

Required:

  • AutoCAD

  • Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word

  • General data entry skills

  • Internet & Intranet

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic understanding of architectural or mechanical drawings and contract documents.

  • Communicate effectively in a verbal and a written manner, and the ability to identify an issue and notify project lead.

  • Basic mathematical skills are essential to perform job duties effectively. Knowledge of algebra and geometry are also required.

  • Develop the ability to visualize in 3-D is very important.

  • Ability to become proficient in understanding of Wausau's products and processes.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Ability to stay focused and manage tasks efficiently while working quickly and accurately.

  • Willing and able to work additional hours as needed to meet deadlines.

  • Close attention to detail and an understanding of what needs to be done is critical.

  • Computer software experience in the following software:

    • Basic understanding of bill of materials

    • 3D software I.E.: Solid Edge, Solid Works, Inventor a plus

    • ERP Software - Epicor

    • BlueBeam

    • Basic understanding of Wausau structural calculators

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Mostly an office environment with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor (proper PPE must be worn on manufacturing floor).

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Occasional travel related to other sites / corporate.
