Roofing Assistant and play an important role in helping maintain, protect, and extend the life of campus buildings and infrastructure. In this hands-on position, you'll work alongside experienced roofing professionals to support roof maintenance, repairs, waterproofing projects, and related building maintenance activities that keep our facilities safe and operational.

Key responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
- Perform preventive maintenance on campus roofing systems, including clearing debris from roof surfaces, drains, gutters, and scuppers to ensure proper drainage and system performance.
- Inspect roofs and identify deficiencies, damage, or maintenance concerns, documenting and communicating findings to supervisors.
- Assist roofing technicians with roof repairs, waterproofing projects, material handling, equipment setup, and job site preparation.
- Support the installation, patching, and repair of various roofing systems using industry-approved methods and materials.
- Assist with waterproofing applications for buildings and below-grade structures to help prevent water intrusion and protect campus assets.
- Set up scaffolding, ladders, safety equipment, tools, and materials while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
- Support related maintenance activities, including asphalt patching, caulking expansion joints, and installation of campus furnishings such as signs, benches, tables, and fencing.
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, efficient, and productive work site.
- Safely climb and work from different types of ladders to access elevated or below-grade areas (such as roofs, above-ceiling spaces, and utility pits). Be exposed to and work in areas where insects or small animals are occasionally present. All essential tasks must be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Perform lifting duties up to 30 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the general public, and follows verbal and written instructions related to work assignments and operational needs.

- This position is considered Essential to the operations of the University and may be required to report to work under adverse weather conditions
- Position may assist in the removal of snow under the direction of the supervisor
- Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities

Qualifications
| Minimum Experience/Education |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Optional Guidelines: Experience in the Trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
