Job Description The Inventory Manager will manage all aspects of inventory control including receiving, material handling and flow, shipping, cycle counting, and physical inventories. This role will ensure the accuracy of the perpetual inventory system(s) and continuously improve the flow of materials through the plant. Plant location:319 Dividend Dr. Peachtree City GA 30269 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cultivate a culture of safe material handling procedures across the entire plant
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures for all inventory transactions
- Partner with other department managers as a member of the Plant Leadership Team
- Implement processes and controls that ensure all materials transactions are processed timely and accurately in the perpetual inventory system(s)
- Develop, implement, and sustain a robust cycle counting process that ensures accuracy of the perpetual inventory system(s) at any point in time, and eliminates the need for monthly and/or quarterly wall to wall physical inventories
- Manage the physical inventory process to ensure complete, accurate and efficient counts, and assist auditors as necessary
- Continuously improve the flow and presentation of materials from receiving through production and shipping to eliminate waste, improve efficiency and reduce inventory
- Review backflush process and partner with engineering to continuously improve accuracy of Bills of Material and scrap factors
- Communicate potential stock outs to purchasing, planning and production before they happen to enable countermeasures and eliminate downtime
- Partner with purchasing and production to identify and eliminate root cause of stock outs
- Train, manage and audit material handlers to follow standard operating procedures and use the correct material transaction codes in the perpetual inventory system(s)
- Partner with purchasing and quality to implement processes and procedures to manage inbound supplier quality
- Identify and eliminate issues that may cause quality defects in the material handling process
- Schedule, confirm and coordinate all inbound deliveries
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum of 5 years experience in inventory control management in a manufacturing environment utilizing a perpetual inventory system
- Trained in Lean Manufacturing including JIT inventory management
- Experience and track record of continuous improvement as a leader of hourly associates
- Proficiency in Microsoft and Internet Applications is required
- Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
- Fact based problem solving and trouble shooting skills
