Job Summary

Co-manage the College's Aruba Wired (LAN) and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), consisting of wired switches, Wireless Access Points, Controllers and associated software along with supporting the Enterprise VoIP Platform (FortiVoice).


Essential Duties

Proactively develop, monitor, and maintain the operational health and uptime of the College's Aruba Wireless Network infrastructure to ensure maximum operational performance (including the wired/wireless network management platform and network access control).

Serve as primary admin the FortiVoice Enterprise VoIP platform, including the Nice CXOne system, and other telecommunications including Xmedius (Secure e-Fax), Grandstreams (analog devices like elevator phones) and Cox E-911 database maintenance.

Provide assistance to peers in Network Operations on wired data network equipment (routers, switches, etc.) in response to the College's needs. Diagnose, repair, or replace defective parts on all related network equipment. Act as backup for firewall and datacenter routing and switching.

Provide various levels of direct assistance to departments and/or individual users of the network to ensure the highest levels of customer service across the college.

Work with a variety of vendors and technical support personnel to evaluate products, network strategies, problem resolutions and emerging technologies.

Maintain static IP assignments and co-manage Aruba Airwave network management platform.

Provide a high level of customer service by understanding user hardware and software needs, recognizing problems, developing recommendations and overseeing corrections.

Oversee small to medium sized construction projects as directed.


Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or networking related studies. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.

1 year experience in an IT networking operational role.

3 years overall experience in a professional IT role.

Ability to work a flexible schedule on one's own initiative with limited supervision.

Advanced knowledge of current generation network infrastructure including routers, switches, system and network firewalls, enterprise wireless equipment including tools like Ekahau, and cabling systems (fiber and copper).

Understanding of enterprise VoIP solutions with hands-on experience managing such a system (such as FortiVoice).

Understanding of port-based network security including experience with MAC-based and 802.1x authentication.

Ability to lift 25lbs and climb a 10ft ladder.


Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or networking related studies. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.

CompTIA A+ certification.

Network +, CCNA, Aruba Mobility Pro, or ClearPass Pro certifications.

Security+ or equivalent.
