Job Summary:

This is a critical job focusing on multiple sclerosis neuropathology. If offers a unique opportunity to learn the pathological role of IgG, complements, and the pathology associated with MS and other CNS disorders. The applicants will expand their experience and knowledge of innate immunity, complement activation, and the intricate interactions of neurons and glial cells. Key Responsibilities / Duties: All levels:
- Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions
- Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects
- Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research
- Support the analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting and communicating results
- Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas
- Pick up, transport, and maintain results, samples, documents, materials and other items as needed
- Dispose of laboratory materials and samples using well established guidelines and instructions
Intermediate Level, includes all of the above and:
- Independently and creatively identify laboratory solutions
- Independently Review, develop and implement new or modified laboratory techniques required for research projects
- Assist Team Leads, Supervisors and/or management with creation and implementation of processes and procedures and quality improvement initiatives
- Assist and train junior team members
Senior Level, includes all of the above and:
- Assist with developing or develop protocol-specific systems and documents including process flows, training manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Maintains subject level documentation and prepares documents, equipment and/or supplies
- Assist with identifying issues related to operational efficiency and shares results with leadership
- Provide laboratory science expertise and leadership in study design, study oversight, data management, data analysis and manuscript preparation to assist all levels of investigators, researchers and clinicians on new research activities across a wide range of disciplines
- Serve as a resource to PIs and other stakeholder

The Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a part-time to full-time neuroimmunology Research Services Laboratory Sciences Professional to investigate the mechanism of neurodegeneration in multiple sclerosis and other neurodegenerative diseases. This position is expected to last at least two years, starting immediately. Salary commensurate with experience. Neurosurgery at CU Anschutz is a dynamic, rapidly growing educational enterprise, and we are one of the largest Departments of Neurosurgery in the western United States. Our current faculty includes 25 Neurosurgeons, three Neuro-Critical Care Intensivists, ever-growing division of Interventional Neuro-Radiologists, five Neuropsychologists, and eight full-time dedicated research PhDs. Minimum Qualifications: Entry Level
- Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis
Intermediate Level
- Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis
- One (1) years professional level research experience
Senior Level
- Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis
- Two (2) years professional level research experience
