Proposal Writer/Manager

The Ken Blanchard Companies is looking for a customer service focused Proposal Writer/Manager with excellent writing and proofing skills. The Proposal Writer is responsible for writing and managing the creation of proposals, including organizing, writing, editing, and proofreading responses to requests for information (RFI), requests for proposal (RFP), proposals, and presentations. This role will work with sales and solution architects to convert sales opportunities into compelling and winning proposals that convey the customer needs, solutions that create impact for those needs, compelling value proposition and winning themes.

Duties include:

Proposal Writing


  • Responsible for managing entire proposal writing process from research, writing, design, and edit through final submission with ensuring the delivery of a quality response
  • Apply persistent tenacity in working with sales to uncover client needs & outcomes
  • Clearly articulate solution highlights and impact
  • Write clear, compelling concise, persuasive, and creative narrative copy, from a bulleted list or abstract ideas
  • Identify needed information from internal subject matter experts and organize responses from stakeholders
  • Interface with marketing personnel to incorporate competitive landscape information into winning themes
  • Work with graphic designers to create compelling visuals from abstract concepts
  • Attend meetings and identify opportunities for new proposal content
  • Resolve issues with originating authors or team members
  • Read and analyze RFP's and edit proposal content for readability, consistency, clarity, and compliance with requirements
  • Work collaboratively with Proposal Management for feedback on design standards
  • Gather information in a variety of ways such as brainstorming sessions, whiteboarding, interviews, research, consolidation of written materials and translation into original text
  • Assist in proposal strategy development; define, and help articulate "win themes", strengths, and discriminators
  • Write executive summaries and pursuit materials that articulate strategic messaging in a compelling and persuasive manner
  • Partner with presentation teams to craft closing and positioning strategies

Proposal Management


  • Manage complex, multi-faceted projects from inception through completion
  • Research and integrate information from sources into a cohesive, easy to read final product
  • Ensure information presented in proposal is accurate
  • Meet strict deadlines by establishing priorities for research, writing, editing, reviews, and approvals
  • Collaborate to identify, develop, and implement new or improved workflows and processes

Qualifications

Education and Experience


  • Undergraduate degree in English, journalism, communications, humanities, liberal arts, or related disciplines
  • 3 years of experience in proposal writing, editing and proofing
  • Industry experience preferred - designing, facilitating, writing
  • Demonstrate action consistent with company mission and values
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office Skills
  • Experience in CRMs and Proposal Management Software
