Network Engineer
Description Serves as a member of a network engineering team responsible for performing the specialized engineering activities required to analyze, plan, design, implement, inspect, test, troubleshoot, and maintain local area network (LAN), wireless (WLAN), VOIP, and UPS backup systems.
Qualifications Required
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in computer science, telecommunications or a related field.
- Four (4) years of experience in network and data communications experience, three (3) years of which shall have been in local area network (LAN), wireless (WLAN), VOIP, and UPS backup systems.
- Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
- Knowledge of LAN, WLAN, and VOIP technologies, protocols, and architectures.
- Knowledge of design, configuration, and maintenance of network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and UPS systems.
- Knowledge of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption methods.
- Knowledge of network monitoring tools to proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks or security vulnerabilities.
- Knowledge of data center operations, including server rack configurations and power management.
- Skill in designing complex LAN, WLAN, and VOIP solutions to meet organizational needs.
- Skill in configuring and implementing network hardware and software components.
- Ability to apply effective troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve network issues quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
- Ability to use network monitoring and diagnostic tools effectively.
- Ability to engage effective problem-solving skills to troubleshoot network issues and develop solutions.
- Ability to analyze complex network issues and develop strategic solutions.
- Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and changing network requirements.
- Ability to work as part of a team to ensure a program meets its goals.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Preferred
- Certifications such as Cisco certified network professional, certified wireless design professional, or certified information systems security professional.
Salary Range $88,019 - $149,779
