Sightline is seeking a Sightline Testing Team Sr. Software Engineer will assist in executing testing activities for the Workday platform, ensuring that all functionalities meet business requirements and quality standards. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, assisting with the creation of test cases, and documenting test results. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and a desire to learn about Workday applications.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Position's Roles & Interactions




  • Test Case Development: Assist in the creation and execution of detailed test cases and test scripts based on functional specifications and business requirements.
  • Testing Execution: Conduct various types of testing, including functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) for Workday modules.
  • Defect Tracking: Identify, document, and track defects in the testing process, collaborating with developers and project teams to ensure timely resolution.
  • Test Documentation: Maintain accurate records of test results, including pass/fail status, and provide feedback on system functionality and performance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts, project managers, and other team members to understand project requirements and ensure testing aligns with business needs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving testing processes and methodologies.
  • Training and Support: Assist in knowledge sharing and training sessions for end-users and stakeholders regarding Workday functionalities and testing processes.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates on testing progress and results to the Testing Team Lead and other stakeholders.

  • Works in a highly complex 70+ server environment supporting Johns Hopkins Enterprise Employee Resource Planning (ERP) solutions.
  • Workday software is an integrated development solution incorporating JH's key business functions of Human Resources (Payroll, Benefits), Materials Management (Purchasing, and Inventory Management), Grants/Funds Management, Finance, and Accounting.
  • The Workday system will support over 60,000 users with the HCM module through payroll and benefits.
  • Workday will interface with over 450+ other internal and external systems, including student services, banks, benefit providers, clinical applications, and e-commerce hubs to support the daily functions of the university and health system organizations. Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities




  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies and principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proactive attitude and a willingness to learn about Workday and testing practices.



Minimum Qualifications

Six years of related work experience with computer systems and applications.

Bachelor's degree required. Additional experience may be substituted for education.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with the full life cycle of software development projects (analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance).

Workday certification or deep experience

Salary Range: $37.14/hour - $65.01/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
