GENERAL SUMMARY: The Bryan Physician Network (BPN) Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is responsible for the planning, provision and allocation of resources necessary to carry out the day-to-day operations of BPN consistent with organizational policy. This role provides leadership and direction for the development, enhancement and maintenance of BPN. This person will be responsible for the proper planning and allocation of resources to include the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and leading the development and accomplishment of the strategic plan. THE CAO fulfills the function of the chief executive officer (CEO) in the day-to-day operations of the company. These responsibilities are accomplished by establishing appropriate performance standards, qualifications and expectations, planning and allocation of resources, and promoting strong relations with physicians, providers, leaders, and staff. PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. 2. *Responsible for recruiting, corrective action, orienting, training and mentoring key supervisory and management staff. 3. *Ensures accurate financial records, budgeting, reporting, and forecasting and identifies trends to proactively address and mitigate financial impacts. Endorses notes, checks and drafts for deposit, and makes proper vouchers, disbursements, checks and drafts as authorized. 4. *Represents BPN to outside organizations. 5. *Serves as a key liaison between BPN and Bryan Health System and its entities. 6. *Works closely with practice leadership to drive optimal clinical operations, excellent patient satisfaction, best practices and strategic growth initiatives. 7. *Facilitates the development of the strategic plan and executes ongoing strategic initiatives and accomplishments. 8. *Leads process for on-boarding new physicians, growing patient base and adding service lines. 9. Conducts and submits annual performance appraisals, annual progress reviews and pay adjustments by scheduled dates; effectively controls salary and non-personnel costs to achieve appropriate service levels at optimum costs. 10. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring operations, programs and physical facilities; initiates change as required to maintain compliance. 11. *Analyzes problem situations in depth, considers consequences, solicits appropriate input /guidance and makes timely and correct decisions. 12. *Monitors physician productivity and practice performance and provides recommendations and actionable information to the Board. 13. *Responsible for growing the network through the effective and efficient management of all clinical, practice, operational, and financial elements of the practice within the region. 14. Partners with all clinical providers to maximize resources dedicated to clinical recruitment, staffing and scheduling requirements. 15. Identifies opportunities for resource and operational optimization and continuous quality improvement. 16. Implements, develops, and manages programs that demonstrate our value to our hospital partners through the consistent delivery of high-quality care and focus on safety programs including prevention and reporting of system or process failures. 17. *Leads with a performance driven approach, by setting clear expectations, appropriately delegating authority, coaching and teaching managers and staff and measuring for results. 18. *Provides timely and effective responses to all customers and consistently drives value and brand awareness through differentiated, high-quality outputs. 19. Actively uses a variety of data mechanisms to track and monitor clinical, practice, operational and financial performance measures to address and positively affect performance in all areas. 20. *Ensures the provision of all key services necessary to support physicians employed in Primary Care, Urgent Care, and various specialties including a full range of practice management/operations such as scheduling, billing and collections, accounting and reporting, human resources, practice consultation, etc. 21. *Manages all aspects of physician employment in the Network, including physician compensation, associated regulatory compliance, development of physician leadership. 22. Responsible for interpreting the mission and philosophy of Bryan Health, including objectives, policies, and procedures. 23. *Coordinates the work of the BPN Board of Trustee and serves as a voting ex-officio member of the Board. 24. *Participates with governing body, management, medical staff and clinical leaders in the organization's decision-making structures and processes to include the annual strategic planning process and budgeting process; participates in professional and community organizations and projects to promote Bryan Health. 25. *Ensures that the authorized budgetary procedure is properly used throughout BPN; recommends and evaluates the compliance of assigned areas to budgetary and fiscal controls; assists in preparing and presenting operational budgets in accordance with established Bryan Health procedures. 26. *Promotes positive relations with employed physicians, addressing concerns timely. 27. *Ensure proper training and conformance to the Bryan Health Corporate Compliance Program. 28. Performs potential practice acquisition analysis and recommends action based upon the results of the analysis. 29. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in field of expertise. 30. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned. 31. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned. Essential Job functions are marked with an asterisk "*." REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Knowledge of hospital administrative policies, philosophies and principles. 2. Knowledge of customer service philosophies and practices. 3. Knowledge of ongoing healthcare trends. 4. Knowledge of Medical Practice operations and leadership. 5. Knowledge of quality improvement, budgetary and financial methods and practices. 6. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions. 7. Skill in conflict diffusion and resolution. 8. Ability to develop written policies and procedures, and present pertinent information to numerous audiences, including the Board of Trustees, medical staff, management personnel, and Bryan Health employees. 9. Ability to make operational and management decisions in response to changing conditions and in emergencies. 10. Ability to make professional and administrative decisions within the framework of Bryan Health's mission, facility policies and procedures, legal and regulatory requirements. 11. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 12. Ability to schedule, direct, counsel and evaluate employee work and performance. 13. Ability to establish effective relationships with colleagues, including physicians. 14. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information. 15. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in health care administration, business administration or related field required. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive practice management experience required. Experience with a multi-specialty physician group practice strongly preferred.
