Job Summary

The Electrophysiology Lab is a specialized invasive procedure suite where cardiac electrophysiology procedures are performed on patients from neonate through geriatrics. The Electrophysiology Technician is an integral part of the EP team and is responsible for operating the technical equipment used during complex EP procedures. A strong knowledge base that includes experience in a Cardiovascular Lab setting, operation of Mac Lab, knowledge of the operation of various types of x-ray equipment, fluoroscopic x-ray equipment, endocardial mapping equipment including but not limited to Biosense Webster and Carto, as well as experience with assisting the physician in the scrub role for pacemaker and ICD implant procedures are required. Technical duties include pre/post procedure preparation, operation of EP monitors and computers, maintains inventory control, and assists in maintaining a safe work environment.#CA-SB

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
  • American Heart Association (AHA) or UCDH-issued Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Possession of valid CRT and CA Fluoroscopy
  • American Heart Association (AHA) or UCDH-issued Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 3 months of hire
  • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialists (RCES) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience / training
  • 1 year experience Radiography experience
  • Knowledge and ability to operate radiology and auxiliary equipment for assigned modality to provide quality images.
  • Knowledge of processor maintenance and imaging techniques.
  • Must be able to adapt to new programs and equipment upgrades as the radiological field advances.
  • Must be competent in archiving, retrieving and exceptions handling with the PACS system.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate imaging equipment to provide quality images.
  • Must be able to adapt to new programs and equipment upgrades as the radiological field advances.
  • Ability to work in an area with ionizing radiation and/or high magnetic field.
  • Ability to move and manipulate equipment with knobs and switches
  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
  • Skills to work accurately and quickly under pressure.
  • Judgment skills to be able to make independent clinical decisions within scope of practice.
  • Set priorities, organize work independently for self and others.
  • Knowledge and recognition of pressure waveforms and ECG analysis.
  • Knowledge of laboratory supplies and their location.
  • Teach safety practices and equipment operational practices.
  • Participate in establishing policies and procedures; participate in on-going CQI program
  • Provide orientation and instruction to new staff; provide teaching to fellows, nursing students and visitors.
  • Willing and able to work in a cooperative fashion with other staff members.
  • Knowledge and skills to comply with AORN standards
  • Ability to work over-time as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ARRT
  • Associate's degree in radiologic technology or a related field

Key Responsibilities

  • 40% - Assists with Performance of all EP Invasive and Interventional Procedures (EPS, ablation, PM, ICD, lead extraction, loop recorder, etc.)
  • 40% - Knowledge of X-Ray/Digital Equipment
