Uses clinical and managerial expertise to develop, implement and evaluate effective patient care delivery systems for Perioperative Services. Accountable for the delivery of quality patient care services, customer satisfaction (including patient, physicians, and employees) and financial results within area of responsibility. Responsible for meeting business, strategic, and regulatory objectives for Perioperative Services. Assignment role is made by the Chief Nursing Officer in collaboration with Human Resources based on the number of headcounts assigned. Facilitates the development and deployment of policy,practices and programs that support quality care and regulatory compliance. Facilitates, reviews, and submits the budget for assigned responsibilities within Perioperative Services, including estimates of future personnel and equipment needs. Ensures thathospital resources are optimally utilized through participating in strategic planning andfinancial budgeting processes, and development of practices that achieve specific objectivesand resolution of unfavorable performance variances. Provides leadership and implementsstrategies to provide cost effective quality care. Reviews appropriate financial reports and makes modifications, if necessary, in PerioperativeServices to reduce costs associated with supplies, staffing, service agreements and/oridentifies sound alternatives for purchasing equipment and supplies. Teams with Medical Director, Administrator of Prisma Health Perioperative Services and CNO todevelop and gain approval for clinical service strategies within the context of Prisma Health mission, vision and values. Collaborates with Prisma Health Perioperative Administrator, physicians and CNO to identify futureopportunities, define the direction of Perioperative Services, develop, and implement plans toachieve identified goals. Goals to include OR efficiency, turn-over time and patient throughput targets across Perioperative continuum and All Care Measures. Collaborates with Education staff to determine the qualifications and competence ofdepartment/service personnel who provide care and service. Creates an atmosphere withpersonnel where each individual is free to function at the highest possible level within theestablished lines of authority, providing assistance when needed. Develops capabilities of individuals and/or teams to promote quality care. Ensures interdisciplinary performance improvement programs are active, maintained andongoing. Follows up to ensure that complaints have been satisfactorily handled. Collaboratesto maintain a focus on providing excellent clinical services. Performs a variety of human resource management functions including the interviewing, hiring, evaluating, counseling and terminating of assigned staff. Provides coaching, mentoring, support and consultation to colleagues and staff. Fosters and empoweredworkforce through role clarification, delegation of responsibility and accountability. Identifies patient and family needs ofthe populations served. Recommends and/or develops new programs and services tomeet those needs. Ensures that age specific equipment, supplies and educationalresources are available for assigned units/services. Supports and promotes education and research. Maintains compliance of Regulatory Standards, including, but not limited to DHEC, JCAHOand AORN. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory/Management Responsibilities Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health or affiliate and will have direct reports. Minimum Requirements Education - Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Master's degree in Nursing preferred Experience - Five (5) years acute care nursing including at least 1 year of perioperative services progressivemanagement experience In Lieu Of NA Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses RN - Registered Nurse - NLRN Licensed South Carolina - Registered Nurse CNOR preferred CPAN preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Basic computer skills Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier) Word processing skill Mathematical skills Knowledge of regulatory standards including JCAHO, DHEC and AORN. Knowledgeable of Age-Appropriate Standards of Care for the patientpopulation(s) served by assigned units and services. Ability to maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, in-services,current literature and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in fields ofexpertise.
