Company Overview

At Performance Drone Works (PDW), we're at the forefront of creating custom small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) for the modern warfighter. PDW is proudly American owned, with all design, engineering, and manufacturing of our products taking place domestically.

Role

We are seeking a dynamic and deeply experienced Vice President of Corporate Development to lead PDW's strategic growth and M&A initiatives. This executive will serve as a critical partner to the CEO, CSO, and founding team in driving investment strategy, acquisitions, and operational integration of growth opportunities, with a keen focus on the defense and autonomous systems space.

This is a high-impact leadership role for a seasoned operator with a unique blend of combat insight, industry fluency, and financial acumen-ideally someone who has worn the uniform, understands the battlefield utility of advanced drone technologies, and possesses the business expertise to scale them commercially.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the corporate growth strategy including acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, and investments.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate potential acquisition targets or strategic partners aligned with PDW's long-term objectives.
  • Conduct deep analysis of trends, threats, and opportunities in defense tech, autonomous systems, and adjacent sectors to inform executive decision-making.
  • Work cross-functionally to integrate acquired companies or technologies, ensuring cultural and operational alignment with PDW's mission.
  • Collaborate with CEO and CFO on capital raising efforts, investor communications, and strategic funding partnerships.
  • Collaborate with product development, engineering, and operations to align M&A with R&D pipelines and mission capabilities.

Requirements:

  • Military background strongly preferred, especially with operational or combat experience where unmanned systems were deployed or evaluated.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in corporate development, private equity, investment banking, or strategic finance-preferably in the defense, aerospace, or robotics sectors.
  • Demonstrated expertise in drone systems and autonomous technologies, with a strong grasp of how they integrate into field operations.
  • MBA from a top-ranked program.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline.
  • Experience working closely with early-stage companies, founders, and engineering/product teams.
  • Proven success leading complex deals and managing post-merger integration.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker with a bias toward execution.
  • Deep network across defense, dual-use tech, venture capital, and military procurement circles.
  • Able to operate fluidly between the Pentagon and the pitch room.
  • High integrity, mission-driven, and culturally aligned with a fast-moving founder-led company.

ITAR Requirement

In compliance with International Traffic Arms Regulations (ITAR), candidates must be U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card holders) or individuals granted asylee/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Compensation and Benefits

PDW values our team, and we offer a compensation package reflective of your experience and capabilities. Benefits include:

  • Comprehensive BCBS medical, dental, and vision coverage; 80% sponsored by the company.
  • Safe Harbor 401(K) with company match.
  • A work environment that encourages teamwork and innovation.
  • Competitive salary, generous paid time off (PTO), and flexible leave options.
