Job Title: Cybersecurity Specialist - Security and Workflow Automation

Onsite Requirement: A couple of days onsite required and travel to different sites.

Job Summary: We are seeking a seasoned Cybersecurity Specialist to lead the design and implementation of secure, automated systems while actively supporting cybersecurity operations and incident response. This role combines deep expertise in identity and access management, security architecture, workflow automation, and cyber threat detection. The ideal candidate will ensure adherence to cybersecurity standards such as NIST and FIPS 140-2, conduct vulnerability assessments, monitor compliance controls, and drive secure modernization initiatives using tools like Azure Security Center.

Key Responsibilities

Security Architecture & Workflow Automation



  • Design secure system architectures in alignment with NIST, FIPS 140-2, and client-specific cybersecurity policies and data privacy regulations.
  • Implement and manage identity and access management (IAM) frameworks, including Single Sign-On (SSO), SAML, OAuth2, and fine-grained RBAC/ABAC models.
  • Define and enforce least-privilege access controls across applicant and administrator portals.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and integrate continuous compliance controls monitoring using platforms such as Azure Security Center.
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to embed security checks and automated scanning into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate secure workflows, including:
  • Ensure all automated processes maintain audit logging, traceability, and real-time monitoring across endpoints.


Cybersecurity Operations & Incident Response:



  • Monitor cybersecurity systems and maintain proactive cyber threat detection operations.
  • Investigate and respond to detected cyber incidents, performing triage to assess scope, urgency, and impact.
  • Identify root causes of incidents, document findings, and recommend remediation strategies to mitigate future risks.
  • Leverage Computer Network Defense (CND) tools such as intrusion detection systems, firewall logs, and endpoint telemetry to proactively hunt threats.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all incident response activities using established methodologies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement lessons learned and define post-incident action plans.
  • Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, tools, and incident response best practices.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity architecture, monitoring, incident response, and workflow automation.
  • Hands-on experience with IAM, secure authentication protocols, and access control systems.
  • Strong background in vulnerability assessment, compliance control enforcement, and security risk analysis.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Power Automate, Azure Logic Apps, and security platforms like Azure Security Center.
  • Deep understanding of NIST cybersecurity framework, FIPS 140-2, FERPA, and other applicable compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of secure software development practices, encryption, and DevSecOps integration.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.


Qualifications



  • 8+ years of experience in security architecture and workflow automation.
  • Deep familiarity with client (education industry), federal, or local government cybersecurity policies.
  • Proven experience with identity management and access control systems.
  • Experience using Power Automate, Azure Logic Apps, or similar workflow tools.
  • Strong understanding of secure development practices, encryption, and compliance with FERPA, NIST, and client standards.


Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $127,100 to $159,600 per year benchmarked in the New York area. The target salary is $142,300 for this role. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
