Job Description: Airbus Commercial is looking for a Director of Workforce Development to join our Human Resources team. This position can be located at the following Airbus locations: Mobile, Alabama Herndon, Virginia Miami, Florida Wichita, Kansas The Director of Workforce Development will lead the strategy and execution of workforce development initiatives to support the growth of career pipelines across the entire North America region. Reporting to the Head of Talent Acquisition for NA, this role will be critical in addressing the business's strategic objectives by expanding and proliferating workforce programming across U.S. sites, while also consulting and advising on workforce development concepts and programs for Canada. The successful candidate will drive innovation in workforce and economic development efforts to build a sustainable talent ecosystem that meets the demands of growth, especially in key regions with emerging opportunities. Your Challenges: Workforce Development: 80%
Lead the Regional WFD Strategy: Lead the design and implementation of workforce and economic development strategies to enable regional growth, grow talent pipelines, and drive alignment with business objectives and long-term workforce planning needs. Program Expansion: Develop and expand workforce programs and partnerships across U.S. sites, focusing on building robust career pathways that support critical roles, including technical, skilled trades, and leadership positions. M&A and Integration: Lead the identification and development of Workforce and Economic Development initiatives in new regions and sites, including the establishment of new local partnerships and pipeline strategies. Consultation & Advisory: Partner with the HR and Business leaders across the U.S. and Canada to advise on workforce development concepts, ensuring that Canadian programs align with local regulations and address regional needs while supporting the broader North America strategy. Community Outreach & STEAM Initiatives: Lead community outreach efforts to promote workforce development, including STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education initiatives for elementary through high school students. Work to inspire future talent by creating pathways to technical careers early in the education pipeline. Labor Pipeline Development: Create and manage workforce development pipelines at all levels-from apprenticeships, internships, and entry-level roles through to experienced professionals and leadership positions. Ensure these pipelines meet both immediate and long-term talent needs. Partnership Development: Build and strengthen relationships with a variety of channels, including community colleges, local and government organizations, military outreach programs, and industry associations. Leverage these partnerships to source and develop a skilled workforce that supports the business's growth objectives. Develop and Grow a Team: Lead a team of local and regional associates to drive progress in WFD, military recruitment and other affiliated programs. Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze workforce data to identify trends, skills gaps, and future talent needs, utilizing insights to inform program development and drive continuous improvement in workforce initiatives. Internal Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Talent Acquisition, and Business Leadership teams to ensure workforce programs align with business goals, growth projections, and regional expansion efforts. Workforce Program Management: Oversee the lifecycle of workforce programs from concept development to execution, including apprenticeship programs, internships, upskilling initiatives, and leadership development pipelines. Compliance and Regional Adaptation: Ensure all workforce development programs comply with applicable labor laws and regulations in both the U.S. and Canada. Adapt programs to fit regional nuances while maintaining alignment with North American objectives. Leadership and Team Development: Direct, guide and manage a team, including Sr Mgr WFD, Mgr Military Outreach, several associates who provide coordination and support of both WFD & FWA initiatives.
