Job Summary:This individual works with both internal and external customers to identify their power requirements. Then using this information to design safe, reliable, cost-effective projects to serve these needs.This position is responsible for directly supervising both union eligible and contractor design technicians.
Main Responsibilities:
- Responsible for direct supervision of Design Technician staff and indirect oversight of distribution engineering contractors.
- Mentors, trains and supports Design Technicians.
- Reviews projects completed by Design Technicians for concept and accuracy. Using AES Ohio Standards, which are based on NESC.
- Experience with various project management and graphic work design software programs., preferred.
- Works with and provides technical support to several internal departments including Planning, Standards, Metering, Test Department, Network, Call Center, Major Accounts, Contractors, Customer Dispatch Operations, Systems Operating and Line Department.
- Works with customers to resolve project concerns.
- Takes ownership role to ensure all customers are supplied with safe, adequate, reliable and cost-effective power to meet their needs.
- Plans, schedules, and directs day-to-day departmental activities relating to area of accountabilities.
- Helps Design Technicians with major/highly political, internal and external projects, to meet the customer's needs in a safe reliable manner.
- Covers monthly safety meeting material in with employees.
- Supports Storms Restoration efforts as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering-related field from an accredited college/university (preferably mechanical or electrical).
- Experience: minimum of 3 to 5 years
- Languages:English
- Skills: Construction/trouble shooting experience is a plus.
- Skills: Must be able to supervise and hold employees accountable.
- Certifications/Licenses: PE preferred but not required.
