Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

• Provide history and physical as appropriate for each patient.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist the physician in diagnosing, treating and managing patients
• Provide high-quality patient care that is guided by protocols and standardized procedures.
• Maintain legible, accurate and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals and consultation.
• Order and schedule laboratory studies, imaging studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
• Formulate a treatment plan.
• Uses evidence-based practice guidelines and assessment tools.
• Prescribe medication and treatments and monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
• Complete documentation and patient billing in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
• Facilitate patient and family education.
• Relay appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician.
• Provide symptom management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Outcomes

• Autonomously and in collaboration with health care professionals and other individuals, the NP/PA-Oncology provides specialty health care services, including: Ordering, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays.
• Provide high quality patient care that is guided by protocols and standardized procedures.
