What this job involves?

Our Dynamic Workplace Team is currently seeking a Occupancy Planner / Design Manager to join and help our team successfully provide occupancy / test-fit planning as well as ensure the application of our client's space and design guidelines.

Being in the forefront

As an Occupancy Planning / Design Manager, you'll be supporting the planning and design for renovation, refresh, and new build projects for a financial client's retail portfolio in the US and Canada, supporting the vision, strategy, and operation of branch bank's customer engagement. As a trusted partner, you will translate business requirements into physical premises, working with third-party designers and architects to design facilities, including building and interior architecture, furniture, finishes and conceptual layout.

You will be a contributor to the portfolio strategy and workplace/retail design activities for various/multiple project sites. Facilitating requirements gathering meetings and review/approval presentations, you will be assisting with identifying space requirements to meet business' needs. Creating feasibility studies, scenario models, and test fits, you ensure that planning is aligned with client's retail guidelines, and that all scenarios maximize use of space; recommend educate and enforce space policies/standards, procedures and protocols. Once the project is approved, you will work alongside the Project Manager providing design oversight of architect/designer for finalized floorplans and design elements (i.e., FF&E) prior to permit.

Having the know-how

It will be important to have strong knowledge and experience in Workplace and/or Retail Design, industry trends, standards and best practices. In this role, you will work alongside the client's Program Manager and Project Manager to understand the requirements for the space and obtain final approval for floorplan layouts. Your role will be to understand the programming requirements create feasibility studies/test-fits using Workplace Standards/Guidelines to creatively propose efficient, effective environment. Clear understanding of spatial relationships and workplace guidelines and standards, and a basic understanding of building codes is required. Ability to multi-task many projects, communications, and deliverables.

Being a trailblazer and breaking new ground

To be successful in this role, you should be able to ensure accurate reporting of information and foster critical relationships between various individuals and organizations. Communication channels will exist with:

  • Corporate Real Estate Strategy to understand key projects and priorities
  • Collaborate with Workplace Experience, Project Management, Facility Management, and Interior Architect
  • Line of business (all levels) to understand workplace requirements and help inform of workplace guidelines and standards
  • Project management to review test-fits and occupancy supply requirements, as well as advise and/or collaborate on the creation of project budget and schedule

Creative

A Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Design or related field is required; along with minimum of 5-7 years of experience in corporate environment. Previous experience in space/occupancy planning at a strategic level, plus experience with interior office renovations is highly desirable. LEED Accreditation Professional and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desired, but not required.

Dynamic and Highly Skilled

You'll need to be dynamic and technologically savvy with the ability to utilize software to support planning solutions and communicate ideas clearly with planning team and lines of businesses. You will be successful if you have advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot table, v-lookup, cell calculations), and AutoCAD (basic test-fits and square foot calculations). Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and ability to consolidate data and floor plans into Power Point for presentations to client and lines of business is highly valued. You'll be effective in your role by learning to ask the right questions to understand the underlying needs of our clients. You'll discover how to be proactive and innovative with solutions your stakeholders.

Organized, Open and Flexible

Excellent communication skills are important - both written and spoken - and we'll expect you to work independently, multi-task, and manage your time to meet deadlines. You keep on top of things as you'll often need to reorganize your time day to day, to deal with your team's changing necessities and requests. An individual with strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with executive level external and internal clients will be successful in the role. Estimated total compensation for this position:

70,000.00 - 95,000.00 USD per year

The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
