Job Overview

The Physical Therapist I provide physical therapy services including evaluation, treatment and follow up and documentation using general competencies for outpatient children referred to the physical therapy department. Provide supervision for PT aides/assistants and students with specific tasks and/or patients. Provide continuous consultation and education to families. The Physical Therapist I is an entry level position in a Career Advancement Program (CAP). This position will primarily treat our general orthopedic population and a small portion of pelvic health population (10-20%).

The Orthopedic Department at Children's Hospital Colorado strives to provide focused, expert care across many diagnoses to youth in our region. Our physical therapists partner with many physicians across the Orthopedic Institute to provide excellent orthopedic care at our 6 locations. Physical therapists on this team are experts at providing evaluation and treatment of patients with general orthopedic diagnoses including but not limited to neck, back, shoulder, hip, knee, ankle diagnoses, concussion, vestibular disorders, scoliosis, pelvic health diagnoses, and chronic conditions such as chronic pain, hypermobility spectrum disorder, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, and functional neurologic disorder. Our therapists provide family centered care and are expected to coordinate care with patients, families, therapy aides, physical therapy assistants (where applicable), physicians, advanced practice providers and students. This program has a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice and collaboration across the 6 sites. The right fit for our team is someone who has orthopedic experience, works well in a team setting and is committed to patients and their families.

Job Status: Full-Time; 40 hours/week - eligible for benefits
Shift: 4x10 hour days from 8:30am - 6:30pm

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or related field of study
  • EXPERIENCE - Prior experience with pelvic health is preferred but not required, will provide in house training to support this population.
  • EQUIVALENCY - None
  • CERTIFICATION(S) - BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR
  • LICENSURE - State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Physical Therapist license; Credentialing must be completed by the Medical Staff Office (MSO) within 3 months of employment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Collaboration- Collaborates with the family, physicians, schools and other providers to ensure the continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services.
  • Provides consultation and education to other professionals and families as necessary.
  • Documentation- Completes written documentation in accordance with department standards for format, location and time frames.
  • Evaluation/Re-evaluations: Independently evaluates children from birth to 21 years of age, with a variety of diagnosis, in specialized programs, on inpatient and/or outpatient units. Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.
  • Financial Responsibility: Assists in achieving departmental financial budget targets.
  • Leadership and/or Professionalism- Demonstrates professional behaviors; adheres to hospital and departmental policies and promotes personal and departmental development through participation in development activities to improve the patient experience and quality goals of the department and hospital.
  • Provides clinical supervision as needed/when appropriate for physical therapy clinical interns.
  • Treatment- Treat children across the continuum, with a variety of diagnoses, in specialized programs on inpatient and outpatient units and in the community.
  • Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services. Seeks out appropriate mentoring/training and consults with relative Program Coordinator and/or assigned mentor for complex patient diagnoses.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $78,659.24 to $117,988.86
