Basic Function

HF Sinclair Midstream located in Casper, WY is seeking an EHS Field Specialist. The position supports Midstream Field Operations in achieving Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) excellence.

Job Duties

(functions considered essential as defined by ADA)

* Serve as liaison between field operations and corporate EHS Teams.

* Provide EHS support and oversight to pipeline, terminal, and tank farm operations and projects in assigned areas of responsibility.

* Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, and other disciplines to ensure EHS rules are followed.

* Visible (EHS presence) in the field.

* Perform worksite assessments and work permitting audits (safe work, hot work, CSE, excavation, etc.) to observe work performed in the field, assess compliance with safe work practices and procedures, and improve worksite safety through hazard recognition, mitigation, coaching, and employee engagement.

* Work with operations and project groups in the development or review of job plans, job hazard analyses, and operating procedures.

* May serve as a team member on corporate health and safety audits.

* Conduct EHS-related field inspections.

* Team member for company-wide EHS employee onboarding and annual training programs.

* Serve as a team member for EHS working groups for continuous improvements in EHS, emergency response, and pipeline excellence initiatives.

* Participate in Spill and Emergency Response drills and training - active member of the Incident Command Team.

* Ensure emergency response and safety equipment are inspected, maintained, and operational.

* Perform or coordinate Industrial Hygiene (IH) monitoring or surveys for exposure assessments.

* Oversees and surveys compliance with policies and procedures relating to safety and develops and implements or improves policies and procedures for compliance with OSHA, API, Industry Best Practices, and other relevant regulations.

* Verify compliance and communication with contractor safety management through the use of ISNetworld.

* Deliver Smith Systems Driver Training to company employees to reduce motor vehicle incidents.

* Deliver or coordinate First Aid/CPR/AED Training to company employees.

* Communicate new projects, operational changes, or modifications to the corporate environmental team to ensure appropriate permits are obtained.

* Identify environmental-related field issues and communicate to the appropriate Environmental SME's.

* Ensure incidents are reported, investigated, and learnings communicated per company requirements.

* Provide safety coverage for special projects and emergencies as needed.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion for the business unit or any other unit of HFS.

Experience

A minimum of 5 years of EHS-related experience in a relevant industry (e.g. pipeline, refining, oil & gas) is required.

Education Level

A Bachelor's Degree is required or equivalent years of experience in lieu of the degree (four years in addition to the experience requirement).

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

Master's Degree or CSP Certification.

Required Skills

Knowledge of current technology and government regulations pertaining to OSHA Health, Safety, and Emergency Response. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal). Computer literate with strong organizational skills. Working knowledge of occupational safety, incident investigation, injury case management, industrial hygiene practices, etc., and ability to apply this knowledge. Satisfactory completion of a comprehensive medical physical examination. Demonstrated ability to stand firm on doing the job safely if challenged and act in a respectful manner.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

First Aid/CPR, Smith Driver Trainer, HAZMAT/HAZWOPER, NIMS, Fall Protection Competent Person.

Work Conditions

Primarily field and office-based with up to 40% overnight travel required. Midstream petroleum industry, and outdoors environment, including but not limited to chemicals, pipelines, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating and fired equipment, and confined spaces. Subject to all temperatures, weather, and varying road conditions. For certain circumstances or emergencies, must be available for weekend and after-hours callouts when needed.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise finger and hand movements, reaching or grasping, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing up to 100 ft, and required to wear required PPE, including a respirator for emergency situations or training.
