Overview Clinical Dietician UnityPoint Health- Fort Dodge Full-time, 32 hours per week Responsible for education to outpatients, inpatients and other staff/community groups as requested by manager related to diabetes and existing population. Responsibilities * Responsible for comprehensive individualized nutrition screening, assessment and education of outpatients seen in the Diabetes Center and through the Healthy Living Department * Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals in providing patient care. * Demonstrates initiative in seeking out learning experiences and educational opportunities. * Adheres to hospital and unit policies. * Ability to accept varied workload. * Duties and responsibility applies to all specific age groups (pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics) serviced by the Diabetes Center and the Healthy Living Department. * Provides nutrition education for professionals and the general public in the community and surrounding areas. * Provides nutrition consulting services to UnityPoint Health - Fort Dodge and other contracted facilities. * Assists in program development activities of the Diabetes Center and the Heatlhy Living Department * Assists with employee health coaching program. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics/Nutrition. Completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship or equivalent Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) approved program Experience: Participates in hospital-wide orientation and thorough department orientation including completion of Skills Inventory. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the population served. License(s)/Certification(s): Licensed by the Iowa State Board of Dietetics Examiners, Valid Iowa driver's license. Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist certification preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to function effectively within team environment. Ability to exercise good judgment, maintain effective interpersonal relationships and adapt to change, evaluate critically and think creatively and be able to organize and plan effectively. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills required for education of population served. Constantly demonstrates positive guest relations. Ability to prepare and give presentations to populations across the age span related to Healthy Living and disease prevention. |
