What this job involves

The Chief Operating Officer's primary responsibilities include strategic, organizational, and administrative leadership in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Global Internal Audit function. As a senior executive, you will play a vital role in driving process improvements and quality assurance measures utilizing both multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary approaches. You must be capable of focusing on existing priorities while showing progressive improvements in scaling execution, delivering a high-quality product and using technology to gain efficiencies.

We are looking for a dynamic leader who builds trust, and creates an inclusive culture, while enabling others to grow alongside him/her, motivating teams to do their best, and showing appreciation for achievements. You must have extensive experience in working with and presenting to the C-Suite and board members.

More specifically, your role will be to oversee all aspects of the internal audit plan, execution, and reporting on an aggregate basis. This will entail setting and meeting key performance indicators such as quality and timeliness metrics, in way that allows for reasonable reliability on the overall conclusion.

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  • Overall, can demonstrate a series of developmental assignments which resulted in learning thrusts and a successful track record with transformation and optimization assignments resulting in improved business outcomes.
  • Must be proven experience in driving transformation initiatives, system implementations, and refocusing audit or control functions to align with stakeholder expectations in support of business strategies.
  • Proven and relevant work experience in Audit, Risk, Compliance, Legal or related field, paired with respective university degree or equivalent education.
  • Proven ability to de-construct complex problems, and proactively propose solutions
  • Deep understanding how controls can mitigate those risks while being commercial.
  • Resourceful, solution oriented and strong analytical working approach, keen to collaborate in a matrix organization, across multiple countries and reporting lines.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, project and time management skills and precision in delivery.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills as well as the proven ability to deliver difficult messages and present information in a succinct and concise way.
  • Strong interpersonal and people leadership skills, to be able to empower a team and manage performance.
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive culture and value diverse perspectives.
  • Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree with preferred certifications such as CIA, CRCM, CISA, etc.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Operationalize strategies by carrying out roadmaps to overall program improvement.
  • Operationalize the execution of the audit plans in a consistent manner allowing for aggregation and linkages across portfolios.
  • Ensure the implementation of industry standards and principles.
  • Create an equitable and inclusive environment where people can bring their full selves to work and unlock their greatest potential and contributions to the team.
  • Build mechanisms and enhance structure to allow for the progressive execution of an enhanced strategy that leverages resources in JLL
  • Automate and digitize the audit process to allow for greater efficiency, clarity and transparency with findings, results and the achievement of reasonable assurance.
  • Identifying systemic root causes from one audit to the next, and to assist with end-to-end remediation and strategic adjustment.
  • Coordinate with other control functions to ensure activities are consistent, aligned and fully leveraged across the organization
  • Identify key control issues, including emerging risks, thematic issues and trends and work with management to ensure timely and effective remediation through the implementation of efficiencies, automation and data analytics.
  • Oversee audit administration activities across plans, including staffing, scheduling, budget management, reporting, etc.
  • Oversee the recruitment, development and retention of a high performing Internal Audit team. Mentor, coach and teach, as needed, including developing people for career opportunities and advancements within the department and company. Develop, update and maintain talent development, training and succession plans for the department.
  • Demonstrate, encourage and recognize a continuous improvement mindset in the audit function; stay abreast of new and emerging regulations and trends that impact the risk function; identify and integrate best practices; Drive operational excellence through the delivery of readily available tools and resources.

A successful COO candidate will have various prerequisite skills and qualifications that typically include:

  • Be able to direct and coach others throughout Global Internal Audit and the broader JLL organization
  • Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize, manage and direct teams across the function
  • Strategic long and short term planning and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize important tasks over others
  • Ability to analyze and compile a large amount of data and come up with conclusive results
  • Ability to motivate, coordinate and ensure proper time-management across a matrixed team of people that will not directly report to the CAE.

Estimated total compensation for this position:

150,000.00 - 250,000.00 USD per year

The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
