Position Summary

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the
University of New Mexico invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral
Fellow. We are seeking a research focused,
experienced individual with excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal
skills. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research related
to numerical simulations and laboratory experiments on
thermo-mechanical behavior of heterogenous material systems. Additionally, the successful candidate will
publish results in leading journals and conferences in related fields, write
proposals for additional funding opportunities, lead group projects, and
collaborate with graduate students and undergraduate students in research
projects. The successful candidate
should be able to start work immediately.

Applicants must hold an earned doctorate in
mechanical engineering or a closely related field by the start date of the employment. The
ideal candidate should have:

  • A record of peer-reviewed publications and past research experience in the relevant area of expertise, including numerical simulations and laboratory experiments.
  • Demonstrated experience with the finite element program ABAQUS.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PHD in discipline by the start date of appointment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A record of peer-reviewed publications and
    past research experience in the relevant area of expertise, including numerical
    simulations and laboratory experiments.
  • Demonstrated experience with the finite element program ABAQUS.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
