Engineered Materials Group

Parker Lord's Dayton facility manufactures passive vibration mounts for commercial and military aerospace applications. We pride ourselves in differentiating from our competitors by providing high technology solutions and the highest quality products. Our core competencies include machining and rubber-to-metal bonding, and we hold multiple industry and aerospace customer certifications, including AS9100 and NADCAP.

Position Summary

As a member of the plant leadership team, the Materials Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations within the materials group related to the planning, procurement, and inventory control of the facility in order to meet demand requirements and ensure a premier customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safety-first workplace, encouraging the identification of opportunities for improvement related to process and/or equipment.
  • Regularly reviews capacity data and develops plans, including identification of materials for outsourcing and insourcing, with the Operations Team to address capacity issues
  • Collaborates within the Supply Chain to resolve material shortages and level load production to achieve feasible production schedules
  • Manages the identification of issues and opportunities related to MRP settings to ensure that the proper quantities of raw material and component stock are available to meet customer demand
  • Ensures inventory objectives are achieved through collaboration with the Supply Chain Teams. Proactively reviews inventory restrictions to limit excess and obsolete product.
  • Provides leadership and development to the Materials team including MRP Controllers, MRO Buyer and Distribution Manager
  • Manages Aged WIP and support the movement of MRB material
  • Drives continuous improvements to current Materials Planning and other related business processes
  • Ownership of all Materials related reporting and metrics
  • Provides Materials expertise for all new products introduced to the Dayton facility
  • Champion the tenets of Lean manufacturing including the reduction of waste and streamlining, and employee engagement

Qualifications

Competencies Required

  • Proficient with the use of MRP tools and methodologies
  • Strong Customer Focus
  • Ability to manage multiple, fluid priorities and proactively address business demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively act as a liaison between the facility and other functions
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with limited information
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel

Preferred

  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP ERP system
  • Proven record of leading Process Improvement activities
  • Training in LEAN/Green Belt/Six Sigma processes

Work Experience

Required

  • At least 5 years' experience in Purchasing, Operations, Supply Chain or Materials
  • Experience in Inventory Management and Capacity Management processes and tools
  • Experience in a leadership role

Education

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related field and 10 years of related experience

Preferred

  • Master's Degree in Industrial/Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Business and/or Finance

Certifications

Preferred

  • Certification by ISM and/or APICS in Purchasing or Materials Management
