POSITION SUMMARY

The VP, Pharmacy Services provides strategic direction, business plan development, quality oversight, executive level leadership, planning, organization and general management for all aspects of Pharmacy across the Ardent Health Services enterprise.


Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership and collaborate with service line leaders to develop systems and tools that ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, regulations, best business practices, accreditation requirements, and internal policies.
  • Direct and optimize all aspects of pharmacy operations, including the 340B program, pharmacy compliance, technology infrastructure, and pharmacy data services.
  • Oversee both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services to ensure operational efficiency and clinical excellence.
  • Lead pharmacy contracting and procurement processes to ensure cost-effective and reliable medication delivery.
  • Optimize pharmacy retail operations, including specialty pharmacy services, to enhance revenue generation and operational sustainability.
  • Recruit, lead, and mentor a diverse team of pharmacy professionals, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.
  • Ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements related to medication management, sterile and non-sterile compounding, and clinical pharmacy services.
  • Champion patient safety and high-quality care through the implementation of robust Build and sustain strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, payers, and healthcare organizations to enhance service delivery and expand clinical initiatives.
  • Serve as a key organizational representative in high-stakes discussions with customers, executive stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
  • Advocate for pharmacy interests through negotiations, public speaking, and policy influence.
  • Evaluate, adopt, and implement emerging technologies and digital solutions to streamline operations and enhance patient care outcomes.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives across pharmacy services to ensure excellence, innovation, and continuous performance improvement.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) or equivalent training.
  • Post PharmD residency in Pharmacy or hospital administration, or equivalent experience (preferred)
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in health care system management with a proven record of accomplishments in operations, program development and related planning.
  • Significant proven healthcare management experience with demonstrated leadership in strategic/ business planning, program development, project management, process improvement and physician relations.
  • Active pharmacist license in state employed

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Expert knowledge and applied background in pharmacy operations management; extensive knowledge of pharmacy business development within an integrated health care delivery system; highly developed skills in fiscal and resource management.
  • Extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical protocols and quality monitoring; advanced knowledge of state and national regulatory agency guidelines and state and federal laws related to pharmacy operations to ensure accreditation.
  • Exceptional leadership and managerial skills with the ability to mentor, motivate and ensure consistent achievement of targets and objectives.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective relationships and work collaboratively; advanced ability to manage conflict and resolve sensitive, impactful situations.
  • Visionary thinker with highly advanced analytical abilities to identify and solve complex problems where no precedent exists
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication.
  • Highly advanced negotiation, persuasion, and presentation skills.
