Global Fleet and Driver EHS Director

Sherwin-Williams is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Global Fleet and Driver EHS Director to oversee and enhance the safety, compliance, and efficiency of our global fleet operations. This role is responsible for reducing risk by developing and implementing fleet safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement in driver safety across all groups and divisions globally. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a combination of strategic leadership, technical expertise, and interpersonal skills to ensure fleet and driver safety, compliance and risk mitigation within a global organization.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

(1) Fleet and Driver Safety & Compliance:



  • Develop and implement global fleet and driver safety strategy, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Monitor fleet and driver safety performance and support corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate on environmental compliance and risk management initiatives to ensure fleet operations and driver activities align with regulatory standards and sustainability goals.
  • Evaluates and assesses newly acquired operations and wholly owned subsidiaries where Company employees hold transportation roles, ensuring fleet compliance and risk management.


(2) Driver Safety & Training:



  • Design and oversee driver safety training programs to reduce incidents and improve performance.
  • Ensures guidelines and systems are in place to assist in the implementation of corporate standards and procedures.
  • Inform and support the implementation of driver monitoring systems and analyze data to enhance safety measures.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for driver safety and track progress.
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability among drivers and fleet personnel.


(3) Accident Prevention & Risk Management:



  • Investigate accidents and incidents, support root cause identification and preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with insurance providers and legal teams to manage claims and liability issues.
  • Develop strategies to minimize fleet-related risks and enhance operational efficiency.


(4) Technology & Innovation:



  • Evaluate and support the implementation of fleet safety technologies, including telematics and AI-driven monitoring systems.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to improve fleet safety.
  • Partner with internal teams to integrate safety initiatives with broader business objectives.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Safety Management, or a related field


Preferred:



  • MS; Certifications in Safety or Hazardous Materials management


KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:



  • 5 - 8 years' experience in fleet safety management or related EHS field, preferably in a global setting, with minimum 5 years management experience. Knowledge with applicable regulations, such as DOT FMCSA, PHMSA, TDG, etc.


Preferred:



  • 15 years' experience in fleet safety management with minimum 10 years management experience.


TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:



  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, compliance standards, and risk management.
  • Experience with fleet telematics, driver monitoring systems, and safety analytics.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Remaining current and ensuring compliance with the multitude of existing and pending laws and regulations of federal, state, local and international agencies.
  • Utilizing product and technical and regulatory knowledge to determine the impact of complicated regulatory requirements on Company operations.
  • Developing cost effective solutions to complex regulatory issues and requirements.
  • Negotiating with agencies to reduce or avoid regulatory problems.
  • Interacting with Company employees and customers at any level of expertise and conveying information in an understandable manner.
  • Overseeing and coordinating multiple projects being conducted by Department staff and related division personnel.
