Koch Energy Services (KES) is seeking a Business Development Originator to join their team!

Our Team

The role will be a part of a newly formed, expanding team focused on identifying incremental opportunities, strengthening key relationships, and securing new, value-added business. The role will report to the Vice President, Natural Gas Trading and be based in Houston, TX. There is an option for a hybrid schedule: 3 days in-office / 2 days remote each week.

What You Will Do

Business Development:

  • Identify and develop new and creative customer growth opportunities consistent with the business' strategies.
  • Expand KES' asset portfolio through identifying, evaluating, and securing new transportation, storage, or other infrastructure related opportunities.
  • Lead and advance opportunities to maximize mutual value, drive efficiency, and ensure closure.
  • Assess and frame up opportunities using sound decision-making models. Collaborate with the commercial teams to identify marginal value and assess risks.
  • Lead the negotiation of key deal terms, developing and finalizing deal-specific contracts with cross functional teams (legal, credit, and trading teams).

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Develop and strengthen relationships with key customers. Work to understand what they value and identify areas of mutual benefit.
  • Leverage these insights to deliver additional value and foster long-term partnerships.

Market Assessment:

  • Develop a deep and comprehensive understanding of the market and its participants. Identify key trends and frame growth strategies accordingly.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Trading, marketing, or origination experience in the natural gas commodity industry.
  • Experience building and maintaining customer relationships
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or another business field

What Will Put You Ahead

  • A proven track record of developing and closing transactions in the commercial natural gas space
  • Experience assessing the natural gas market and providing a point of view or recommendations on opportunities
  • Experience with negotiating, contracting and closing deals.
  • Experience with ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management) systems.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
