Smelter and Refinery Technical Manager (Kennecott Utah Copper LLC, Magna, UT):

Assumes all responsibilities and accountabilities related to the management of technical teams at the Smelter and Refinery. Develops and implements core activities, practices and procedures and follow ups to develop a robust safety culture. Produces without harm to the environment, ensures the industrial hygiene conditions of the centre (air, noise, dust) as well as obtain and maintain appropriate certifications. Ensures flow of manufacturing in accordance with assigned processes while meeting customer requirements in terms of quantity, quality and time. Constantly improves the process with the benchmark as a target in terms of volume, efficiency and energy consumption. Responsible for projects to maximize value and meet target under responsibility. Accountable for the technical operations expenses budget while providing feedback and guidance on operational cost control and capital allocation. Optimizes the use of human resources (number, skills, and flexibility) and material resources. Maintains a psychologically safe working environment. Leads and continuously improves management system activities.

Telecommuting permitted up to 20% per week.

Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field and 10 years of related work experience, of which 5 years must be progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience in the Copper Smelting process.

Must have 10 years of experience in Managing Technical Projects from concept development through implementation in plant with demonstrated results.

Must have 4 years of experience in each of the following:

  • Copper Smelting and Converting;
  • Anode Refining and Casting;
  • Copper Electrolytic Refining; and
  • Precious and minor element recoveries.

Must have 2 years of experience in the management of multi-disciplinary technical teams composed of metallurgists or chemical engineers.

Telecommuting permitted up to 20% per week.

International travel required up to 5%; Domestic travel required up to 5%.
