JOB SUMMARY |
The EH&S Specialist will aid with regulatory compliance and continuous improvement expectations with the Prolec-GE Waukesha business. Under direct supervision, this role will conduct inspections, planning, development and execution of remediation projects using appropriate methods, technologies and personal protective equipment to minimize risk. This role will assist in conducting studies and investigations to ensure compliance with government safety and health laws, standards and regulations. |
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Weekly & Monthly Environmental & Safety Inspections
- Weekly plumbed Eyewash inspections
- Weekly VOC Recording paint and solvent usage
- Monthly AED/Eyewash inspections
- SWPPP/SPCC environmental inspections
- Tracking/Inspection and Documentation of PPE
- Distribution and tracking of harness, high volt gloves, hardhats, hearing protection, etc.
- Semi-Annual inspections of harnesses and HV gloves
- Labeling/Inspecting of Racking
- Shop floor observations
- Environmental Observations
- Chemical Use/Flammable Cabinets
- Monitor cabinet inventory and labeling
- Manage safety data sheet binders in cabinets
- Cabinet content tracking/inspecting
- Printing and distributing labels for Hazardous Waste and secondary containers
- Property signage updates
- Update signs and posters as necessary
- Emergency Responder posting
- Safety Task Teams meetings to work with MEs, Supervisors and shop floor on improvements to processes.
- Permit required confined space/Hot work permits
- Aiding in setting up trainings
- Ensure Physical Stress Index and JSA assessments are in place for each position
- Machine Guarding audits: Coordinating with facilities and third parties to update equipment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITIES |
- Basic knowledge of environmental and safety regulations
- Ability to work independently as well as on a team
- Must have good communication skills -written and oral
- Good computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
Required Education / Experience
- Associate's Degree in Environmental, Health & Safety field
Preferred Education / Experience
- Previous work in environmental or safety compliance

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION |
Key Working Relationships Operations Management, including plant Supervision, Quality, Planning, etc. Shop and office employees. Physical Demands Must be able to walk, stand, sit, stoop, squat, and kneel for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions Primarily shop floor plus time in office environment located on large manufacturing campus. |
