Summary:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Provides customer service by assisting customers in identifying and acquiring materials.
  • Performs routine cataloging of library materials.
  • Answers routine inquires; referring all other inquiries to the Head Librarian.
  • Verifies bibliographic information on order requests.
  • Checks in/out items relative to specific types of material in accordance with established procedures
  • Prepares material for delivery as specified
  • Updates database to include information associated with the addition/deletion of publications as well as performs routine database searches.

Experience, Education and Licensure:

  • High School education or equivalent
  • One year of general knowledge of routine library functions.
  • Shall have basic knowledge of library operations and be able to perform duties such as circulation, data input, acquisition functions, and provide support to the professional staff.
  • Secret Clearance Required

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

  • Must be able to work independently, have strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to coordinate multiple tasks. Superior customer service focus
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, most importantly PowerPoint
  • Be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

Work Environment

Work is typically performed in a controlled office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

DoD Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.

Additional Qualifying Factors:

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. In addition, a satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States are required.
