Job Overview:

The Strategic Events Team designs and executes high-impact events focused on thought leadership, stewardship, cultivation, and fundraising. These events aim to introduce new audiences to the IRC's mission and deepen engagement with current supporters.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Experiential Marketing, this role collaborates with colleagues across the Philanthropy teams and the broader Marketing and Mobilization team. The Officer will consult on, conceptualize, and implement engagement activities that support ambitious fundraising goals and elevate the IRC's profile. These events will take place both in the U.S. and internationally.

Working closely with the Events and Experiential Marketing teams, this role will help plan and execute both short- and long-term strategies for events and experiential marketing campaigns that align with the following objectives:

  • Supporting private fundraising efforts
  • Developing corporate partnership opportunities
  • Elevating the IRC's public profile
  • Enhancing global brand awareness

The Officer of Strategic Events will collaborate with internal and external partners across domestic and international markets. This individual will contribute expertise in event management, creative direction and strategy, marketing, logistics, and production coordination, while also supporting the development of compelling IRC content.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the team and key internal stakeholders to develop global events (both live and virtual), ranging from high-level gatherings to large-scale dinners, thought leadership conferences, and meetings.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of new IRC event formats and define key performance metrics.
  • Develop event themes, structures, and program elements.
  • Lead and oversee various aspects of event project management, including team coordination, logistics, production, and execution from planning through post-event wrap-up. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Drafting concept notes
    • Creating creative briefs
    • Conducting venue searches or setting up virtual platforms
    • Preparing and distributing event materials, communications, and other professional documents
    • Evaluating event effectiveness and analyzing audience data

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree minimum or minimum 3 years of event planning experience with the shown ability to organize events through all phases of development

Skills and Competencies:

  • Outstanding MS office and Event database management skills (Salesforce and Pardot, aka SalesforceMarketing Cloud Account Engagement, experience preferred)
  • Proven project and event management skills (in person and virtual) with the ability to balance multiple time-sensitive tasks simultaneously and prioritize tasks appropriately
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively and diplomatically with donors, clients, colleagues, vendors and consultants
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative with a passion for story telling
  • Resilient and able to remain calm in high pressure situations
  • A great teammate able to work effectively with multicultural, global teams
  • Dedication to respecting and maintaining confidentiality of information
  • Passion for the IRC's mission

Working Environment:

  • Standard office working environment
  • Hybrid in-person and remote working environment, where individual is responsible for at-home workspace and may be required to share office workspace.
  • Successful candidate should be available to work late evenings and open to travel for events as the need arises.

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
