Position Description Summary:
The Endowed Professorship in Nursing is responsible for providing support and leadership to the School of Nursing's ( SON) academic, research and service missions. A senior-level tenured faculty member, the Endowed Professor is a distinguished scholar with demonstrated success in research, external funding and publications in the areas of health policy, health services and/or nursing workforce research. The Endowed Professor works collaboratively with academic leadership, faculty and staff of the School of Nursing and oversees the Nursing PhD program. This is a full-time 12-month appointment with tenure at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor, with a start date as early as fall semester 2025.

The Endowed Professor reports to the Associate Dean for Research. All faculty hiring decisions will be contingent upon final approval by the Provost.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include:
* Lead and maintain an extramurally funded program of research in health policy, health services research and /or nursing workforce.
* Directs PhD in Nursing program
* Recruit and mentor PhD students
* Teach in area of expertise
* Cultivate and lead opportunities for student policy research and initiatives
* Strengthen collaborations with external partners with the goal of increasing the impact and dissemination of policy related research
* Develops and submits annual reports on the PhD program and overview scholarly productivity of PhD students
* Works collaboratively with the Associate Dean for Research and the academic leadership team on the development of early career faculty
* Promotes visibility of SON research and scholarship within the school, university, and within local, regional, national and international nursing and healthcare organizations and communities.
Minimum Qualifications:
* An earned PhD in nursing, public health, public policy or a related field by date of application
* Eligible for tenure appointment at the rank of associate or full professor
* Demonstrated excellent track record of extramural funding as a Principal Investigator
* Experience mentoring doctoral nursing students as well as early career faculty in research and scholarship
* Innovative and creative ideas about the future of health policy and related research areas.
* Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
* Evidence of the ability to work and teach in an environment where students, faculty and staff have diverse experiences and perspectives
* Strong team leadership and communication skills, excellent interpersonal abilities
* Eligibility for RN licensure in the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Advertised Salary: $150,000 to $190,000
