Job Summary

**This will be a contracted position and will end one year from the date of hire
Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced software professional with a full understanding of industry practices, community standards and relevant policies and procedures to medium-sized projects or portions of large projects with moderate scope and complexity. Resolves a wide range of issues. Demonstrates competency in selecting tools, methods and techniques to obtain results.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $94,000 - $151,300 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Multitudes Project at the UCSF Memory and Aging Center (MAC) is a translational research initiative at the intersection of cognitive neuroscience, psychometrics, and precision medicine. As part of the largest division within the Department of Neurology, MAC integrates clinical care, research, and data science to improve our understanding of aging and neurodegenerative conditions.The Department of Neurology, situated within UCSF's School of Medicine, encompasses a dynamic ecosystem of more than 260 employees, 230 faculty, and a wide network of trainees and clinical collaborators across multiple UCSF campuses including Mission Bay, Parnassus, ZSFG, and the VA Medical Center. With over $120 million in annual funding and the top NIH and philanthropic funding across all U.S. Neurology departments, UCSF Neurology is a leader in neuroscience research, data infrastructure innovation, and interdisciplinary training.
The Multitudes Project at UCSF is a groundbreaking initiative funded by the State of California, focused on bridging neuroscience and public education. Its goal is to develop and validate an early screening tool for identifying children at risk for dyslexia, supporting timely intervention and equitable access to learning resources.
The Multitudes Project plays a pivotal role in transforming psychometric and cognitive health data into scalable, population-level insights through modern informatics infrastructure. The project embraces open science, digital health integration, and diverse community engagement-working across technical, scientific, and clinical teams to ensure high-impact outcomes in public health and equity-focused neurological research.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Minimum 3+ years of related experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of secure software development.
  • Advanced skills associated with software design, modification, implementation and deployment, including object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand functional needs and how systems can support those needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop conversion and system implementation plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with management on a regular basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute technical narrative to grant proposals.
  • Thorough experience with identification and use of code libraries and open-source forums.
  • Experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated software repository skills.
  • Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
  • Thorough experience with common programming tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated broad problem solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experiencing developing with Svelte, Typescript, and GraphQL.
