Reporting to: Global Congress Director, Oncology

Travel: International travel and working over weekends may be required (20-25%).

Role Summary

The Global Congress Manager for Oncology plays a critical role in shaping and delivering GSK's presence at global medical congresses. This role connects strategic objectives with execution, working in close partnership with Global Product Strategy (GPS), Global Medical, Global Business Units, Local Operating Companies (LOCs), and external vendors.

This position requires deep congress expertise, project management excellence, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to deliver impactful and compliant congress experiences aligned with GSK's oncology priorities.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead end-to-end planning and execution of GSK's presence at global oncology congresses (Tier 2) including exhibits, symposia, meetings, sponsorship activation and booth staff training.
  • Chair and lead cross-functional congress planning meetings with internal stakeholders, achieve consensus regarding content and develop timelines, monitor status, and provide comprehensive communications.
  • Coordinate booth content, design, approval, training, and onsite logistics in collaboration with Medical and Commercial teams.
  • Management of yearly congress budgets (Execution and forward planning)
  • Act as liaison with congress organizers and scientific associations.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including contract negotiation, deliverables, and performance oversight.
  • If required oversee logistical planning with agencies (e.g., housing, registration, association relationships).
  • Ensure all congress activities are delivered in compliance with GSK SOPs, EFPIA, ABPI and Scientific Engagement principles.
  • Manage internal processes including but not limited to content approval, due diligence, documentation, risk mitigation planning/escalation, cross functional consultation with legal and compliance.
  • Maintain detailed congress master files and contribute to quarterly compliance reviews.
  • Introduce creative, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions to enhance congress impact.
  • Ensure that the congress is delivered within budget and defined metrics in order to evaluate return on objectives / investment.
  • Align congress presence with broader omnichannel strategies.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or equivalent experience.
  • Considerable proven experience in end-to-end congress and convention planning, including budget management, within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Deep understanding of the pharma industry and compliance standards.
  • Deep understanding of the financial aspects of congress management.
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional leadership skills including a strong ability to multi-task and set/handle multiple deadlines and priorities without losing attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a global matrix environment.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in Oncology is highly advantageous.
  • Collaborative mindset with excellent verbal, written, and presentation abilities.
  • Experience with vendor negotiations and external partnerships.
  • Demonstrated customer focus, integrity and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as take a leadership role.
