What is the Opportunity?
Municipal Products Associate provides analytical, research and transactional support to investment bankers in all activities relating to the deployment of credit to the full scope of the Municipal Finance Department's client base. The Municipal Finance Department deploys credit in several innovative ways including traditional credit facilities such as letters of credit, term loans and revolving credit facilities, as well as Direct Purchase Program products including floating rate notes, drawdown bonds and structured lending transactions involving total return swaps.
Associates are involved in every aspect of credit deployment for our business and play critical roles on teams serving a broad base of clients, including state and local governments, hospitals and health systems, colleges and universities, real estate developers, property managers and non-profit owners of P3 assets nationwide. Associates will evaluate each credit deployment opportunity, price products, analyze the appropriate product responses and assist in presentations to senior management in the Department and various RBC Committees. Associates will also assist with the creation of securitization trusts and monitoring of profit-and-loss measurement for the Direct Purchase Program.
What will you do?
- Perform research, analytics, financial modeling and scenario analysis required to evaluate a potential credit deployment opportunity
- Prepare materials for internal presentations to RBC committees and management
- Coordinate credit evaluation with internal RBC partners including GRM-Credit and Corporate Banking
- Conduct daily profit-and-loss reconciliations as well as derivative mark-to-market valuations
- Assist with the management of tender option bond trusts
- Gather, organize and analyze information necessary to prepare proposals, term sheets, client presentations and marketing materials on lending products.
- Take an increasing role on client coverage teams and in formal and informal presentations
- Develop an understanding of economic, financial market, competitive and political forces affecting our projects as well as and the bond market through internal and external resources.
- Coordinate the various activities, internal and external, relating to pricing and settlement of credit deployment transactions. Work closely with Investment Bankers to secure closings.
- Develop data and analytical processing skills, a proficient knowledge of available computer programs & improve data processing system to enhance departmental efficiency.
- Other such duties, responsibilities and authority as may be reasonably required, consistent with the purposes for which you are being hired and your background, experience and prior business activity.
- Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business.
- Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities.
- Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functionspromptly.
What do you need to succeed?
- BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field with demonstrated record of high achievement.
- 1 to 5 years of related professional Municipal Finance experience.
- Proficiency with standard productivity applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint, as well as Municipal Finance specific applications such as Bloomberg, Loan Profitability Model (LPM) and CCMS.
- Obtain and maintain Securities Industry Essentials Exam (SIE), Series 52, 63 and 79 licenses
- Quantitative and qualitative skills; strong knowledge of finance and workable knowledge of accounting
- Highly motivated, organized, committed, and responsible, with a demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and requests.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships at all organizational levels
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative and function independently balanced with strong teaming skills.
- Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $140,000 - $170,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
