Overview

TRC is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Project Engineer III to support commercial energy project development and/or programs. Projects and responsibilities may include on-site energy and/or DER audits, energy engineering analyses, energy modeling, instrumentation deployment, Measurement and Verification (M&V), energy market and policy research, and customer meetings.

Eligible candidates will be hands-on, highly skilled resource and possess strong technical capabilities including knowledge of building systems and energy efficiency. Background and/or degrees in mechanical or energy engineering, sustainability and/or energy efficiency is preferred. The position is in Massachusetts, preferably the Boston area.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site energy and/or distributed energy resource (DER) audits to identify existing systems and potential energy measures
  • Establish baseline and retrofit energy consumption for commercial and industrial systems through measurement, calculation, and analysis to determine the effect of system improvements
  • Conduct energy analysis and whole building modeling
  • Identify operations and maintenance energy savings opportunities in building
  • Support implementation of customer energy projects and demonstrations, including development of scopes of works, performance specifications, and construction management
  • Reviewing technical documentation such as California and Federal energy code, building standards (ASHRAE), construction drawings, specifications, scopes of works, and cut sheets
  • Developing engineering cost estimates for proposed energy and DER measures
  • Draft and implement M&V Plans; decide the duration of the measurement period; match logging equipment to the expected load (EX: expected amps vs. transformer rating); and verify that measurement periods account for variation in external effects
  • Oversee field instrumentation and meter deployment
  • Deliver high quality reports requiring minimal quality control efforts
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines and client expectations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and contractors to ensure that deliverables meet or exceed the customer's expectations

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of energy engineering related experience.
  • Experience with energy modeling software is required.
  • Experience with refrigeration systems is preferred
  • Experience with maritime facilities is a plus
  • Licensed professional engineer (PE) or engineer-in-training (EIT) is preferred.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant Engineering area of study is required. Other fields are acceptable when accompanied with relevant work experience.
  • Aptitude for communicating (written and oral) technical and program concepts to clients, contractors, consumers, and other interested people or organizations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent computer skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Skills in programming/coding (Python, R, Ruby, VBA, etc.) are valued
  • Valid driver's license; position entails travel
  • Legal ability to work in the U.S.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range

USD $88,005.00 - USD $106,870.00 /Yr.
