Reuters is looking for a strong journalist to lead itsfinanceand markets breaking news team in the United States. The breaking news team is at the heart of thefinanceand markets team, serving the crucial function of covering major market developments in real time. This fast-paced team sits at the forefront of the daily news file and is the first responder to major market moves. The team sends headlines on market moves, writes market reports for major assets, blogs and covers stock moves. In recent months,the volumeand volatilityof market-relevant newsand volatilityhave both increased, making this team ever-more important.

Thisfast-pacedrole requires a deep understanding of markets andfinance. To be successful, you must bring energy and ambition and have strong editing and writing skills. You should thrive in a breaking news environment and geek out on processes and cutting-edge automation.

Based in New York, the editor will manage a dedicated team of breaking news reporters every day and work closely withfinanceand markets colleagues globally. The role, which will liaise closely with strategic centers and bureaus, will report to the global breaking news editor for thefinanceand markets team.

About the Role

As U.S. Breaking News Editor,Financeand Markets, you will:

  • Take charge of major breaking news acrossfinanceand markets
  • Ensure we are delivering high-quality market reports, blogs and other essential markets coverage
  • Plan coverage around events such as significant data releases and policy announcements
  • Manage the team creatively to ensure growth and development for our journalists alongside the needs of the file
  • Work closely and collaboratively with other editors, especially colleagues in strategic centers

About You

You will be a good fit for the role of U.S. Breaking News Editor, Finance and Markets if you have:

  • Deep understanding of financial markets, ideally across asset classes
  • Astrong work ethic, team spirit and excellent organization skills
  • Excellentjournalistic and management skills
  • Understanding of Reuters systems, and processes and ideas to improve them
  • Experience covering markets; cross-asset experience strongly preferred
  • Experience both in leading a Finance and/or Markets-focused news file AND in managing people strongly preferred

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $109,690 - $203,710.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
