DESCRIPTION

Under direct supervision of the Pain Management Clinic nurse manager, and the general supervision of the clinic physicians, APPs, this RN position will be responsible for intrathecal pain pump treatment and management, triage of patient symptoms and questions that present via phone and MyChart messages and may float to KOP or MOP for the procedure suite coverage.

This RN will also provide coverage for sick calls, vacation, and messaging coverage for the pain clinic team. The RN needs to have strong clinical and communication skills to collaborate and coordinate with health care teams in ensuring optimal care for patients and families in a busy outpatient Pain clinic. Recent intrathecal pain pump treatment and management experience, ambulatory triage experience and/or procedural experience is preferred. Must have the ability to provide an excellent experience for our patients, providers, and team members.

The qualifications of this position have been slightly modified as of 6/18/2025.

These three (3) openings will be for one (1) 100% FTE and two (2) 80% FTEs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
  • RN License issued by the State of California.
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in 6 months of hire date.
  • Must have at least 2 years of Intrathecal Pain Pump, Triage Nurse, and/or Pain Procedural RN experience.
  • Demonstrates UCSD Core Values (Quality, Caring, Integrity, Creativity, Teamwork).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate ideas for all levels of audiences.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $131,335 - $184,078 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $62.90 - $88.16

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
