| Essential Job Duties |
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented
Floor Technician to join our Environmental Services team at NC State's Facilities Division. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of over 10 million square feet of campus space. You will utilize specialized cleaning equipment and techniques to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. If you take pride in delivering high-quality floor care and enjoy working in a dynamic and collaborative team setting, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Key responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
- Strip and refinish hard-surface floors, extract and clean carpets, and perform routine maintenance using equipment such as burnishers, auto-scrubbers, and carpet extractors.
- Complete assigned cleaning tasks, including vacuuming, mopping, shower scrubbing, and applying floor finishes, to maintain designated areas.
- Follow all safety procedures when handling cleaning products and operating equipment. Wear appropriate PPE and post caution signage during cleaning activities.
- Promptly identify and report building discrepancies, safety hazards, and equipment malfunctions to the manager.
- Accurately complete incident reports, interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and apply safety protocols in daily operations.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks safely and efficiently, including frequent bending, squatting, reaching, lifting 60-90 pounds, and climbing ladders, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and the public, and follow verbal and written instructions related to work assignments and other matters.

| Other Responsibilities |
- Deploy emergency equipment to manage building floods and respond to critical on-site emergencies.
- Perform snow removal and address urgent needs during severe weather conditions.
- Provide support for cleaning and maintenance needs during emergencies and severe weather to ensure safe and functional campus spaces.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
| Minimum Experience/Education |
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special certification may be required for some of these positions.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience performing floor care and housekeeping duties in a university, healthcare, or commercial environment.
- Familiarity with floor care equipment such as burnishers, auto-scrubbers, and carpet extractors.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicals and PPE.
