Under the direction of the Director of Development & Strategic Operations, the Community Engagement Coordinator supports the successful integration of refugees, asylees, and other immigrants by leading efforts to engage community members as volunteers, conduct ongoing community outreach, and clearly communicate the IRC's mission and purpose in the local context to external supporters. The coordinator will work to build an effective and cohesive volunteer engagement strategy based on programs needs assessment, focusing on recruiting, onboarding, and supporting community volunteers and university interns to expand local capacities. Additionally, the coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing a cohesive and scalable external communications plan, including a monthly e-newsletter, regular social media engagement, website maintenance and impact reporting. P rogramming that harnesses the power of welcoming communities. They collaborate with IRC staff to determine needs, coordinate community outreach, build effective relationships, and connect clients with community-based resources.

Volunteer & Internship Coordination
* Ensure the IRC maintains an active, effective, inclusive, professionally managed intern and volunteer program supported by a comprehensive volunteer engagement strategy and program needs assessments.
* Recruit, screen, interview, and train volunteers and interns. Serve as the primary point of contact at IRC with local community members and groups. Support the resolution of any issues that may arise.
* Respond to new volunteer inquiries swiftly; communicate regularly with current volunteers and volunteer alumni.
* Conduct regular information sessions for potential volunteers, interns, and mentors.
* Provide regular staff trainings to ensure development of strategic volunteer and intern opportunities, robust supervision, and supportive supervision. Maintain regular communication and act as a liaison between IRC staff and volunteers.
* Organize three intern recruitment cycles (fall, spring, summer) annually; manage office-wide application and recruitment process, including recruitment, onboarding, professional development, mid-term check-ins, and exit processes in addition to completing intern reimbursement policies.
* Organize the facilitation of group volunteer projects and service projects, engaging local community, corporate, civic, and youth groups to tackle large-scale projects across IRC sites in Salt Lake County.
* Maintain volunteer files; maintain records in database; manage timesheets and timesheet entries each month; complete monthly volunteer hours reporting for matching grants.
* Maintain robust and responsive relationships with all universities, intern partner organizations, and volunteer partner organizations in the area.
* Lead recognition and community building events and strategies for volunteers and interns.
Communications & Outreach
* Collaborate with IRC colleagues to amplify messaging about IRC's work and how community members can support refugee and immigrant families.
* Increase community engagement through outreach. Meet with community members, deliver presentations, represent IRC at local meetings, and create tools, fact sheets, presentations, and templates.
* Lead Speaker's Bureau efforts and initiatives, including staff engagement and ongoing training.
* Work cross-departmentally to build a culture of storytelling, curating staff, program and client stories and crafting compelling, well-designed content to support the fundraising, marketing, programmatic and advocacy goals of the organization following the Ethical Storytelling Framework and a comprehensive communications strategy.
* Lead the timely production and distribution of communications materials, including monthly newsletters, social media posts, website updates, press releases, advocacy alerts, community reports (quarterly & annual) and other digital and print materials that improve awareness of organizational needs.
General
* Assist in the coordination of annual IRC-organized fundraisers and large-scale donation drives.
* Participate in development team meetings, staff meetings, and national skills building trainings, calls, and communities of practice, especially active participation in monthly Communities of Practice.
* Maintain professionalism, customer service, and IRC Way ideals when working with the community.
* Use personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation (where available) to travel and transport materials as needed throughout the service delivery area.
* Other related tasks and projects as assigned, within your scope of practice.

Indirect Reporting: Executive Director, senior leadership team, program managers
Job Requirements:
Work Experience: 2-3 years of related professional experience. Experience in community development, volunteer coordination, and external communications strongly preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
Demonstrated Skills & Competencies
* Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred. Comfortable working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
* Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Additional language fluency a plus.
* Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
* Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRC's core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Ability to lead in a way that recognizes that IRC's work is best accomplished through the true collaboration of individuals from many cultures with a great variety of skills and perspectives.
* Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
* Self-direction and initiative, when needed, to take the lead and to follow through to completion.
* Experience developing and providing orientations and trainings as well as public speaking.
* Familiarity using donor CRM systems, especially Salesforce, preferred.
* Experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Studio, photo and video editing a plus.
* Strong writing and editing skills with an excellent attention to detail.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.
* Valid driver's license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.
Working Environment:
* A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and 'field' time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
* May require weekend and/or evening work.

Compensation:Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
