The Lead Epic Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of complex, enterprise-level Epic initiatives across clinical, financial, and operational domains. This role provides strategic leadership and direction for a portfolio of Epic projects, including large-scale implementations, system optimizations, and cross-functional integrations that support the organization's digital health transformation.

Working closely with executive leadership, IT, and operational stakeholders, the Lead Project Manager ensures that Epic solutions are aligned with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. This role leads project governance, resource planning, and risk management efforts, while also mentoring project managers and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Epic systems, healthcare operations, and project leadership, with a proven ability to drive change, influence stakeholders, and deliver high-impact results in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Seeking Project Managers to support our Epic (EMR) implementation initiative across several critical domains, including:



  • Revenue Cycle / Finance
  • Inpatient Services
  • Third-Party Systems / Integrations
  • Technical Operations


This is a project-specific role with an expected duration of 2 years.

Qualifications

Minimum Education



  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • Master's Degree (Preferred)


Minimum Work Experience



  • Seven (7) to Ten (10) plus years of project management, product design, or related experience. (Required) And

Program Oversight & Portfolio Management



  • Oversees multiple high-impact Epic projects and programs, ensuring coordinated execution, resource optimization, and alignment with enterprise priorities and timelines.


Deep Healthcare & Revenue Cycle Expertise



  • Possesses expert-level understanding of clinical operations, revenue cycle processes, and healthcare regulations, ensuring Epic solutions are designed to support compliance, efficiency, and patient-centered care.


Enterprise Change Leadership



  • Leads organizational change efforts, guiding teams through complex transitions and fostering a culture of adaptability, innovation, and continuous improvement.


Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence



  • Builds strong partnerships across departments, influencing without authority and driving consensus to support successful project outcomes and system adoption.


Change Management Strategy & Execution



  • Designs and implements structured change management strategies, including stakeholder engagement, communication planning, and training programs to ensure successful adoption of Epic solutions.


Executive Presence & Professional Integrity



  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, ethical leadership, and accountability, serving as a trusted advisor to executives and a role model for project teams.


Required Licenses and Certifications



  • EPIC Certification (Required)

    • This position requires that the appropriate Epic certification be successfully obtained and maintained for the assigned area of responsibility within 6 weeks of completing training, if not obtained prior to hire.


  • Project Management Professional (Required)


Functional Accountabilities



  • Provides strategic leadership for Epic project portfolios, overseeing multiple complex initiatives across clinical, financial, and operational domains to ensure alignment with enterprise goals and digital transformation strategies.
  • Leads and mentors a team of project managers, offering guidance, performance feedback, and professional development to ensure consistent project delivery standards and team growth.
  • Drives enterprise-level planning and prioritization, collaborating with executive leadership to define project roadmaps, allocate resources, and align Epic initiatives with organizational priorities.
  • Oversees governance and risk management frameworks, ensuring that all Epic projects adhere to compliance standards, risk mitigation protocols, and organizational policies.
  • Serves as a senior liaison between IT leadership and operational stakeholders, translating strategic objectives into actionable project plans and ensuring cross-functional alignment.
  • Champions change management and stakeholder engagement, leading communication strategies, executive briefings, and adoption planning to support successful transitions and long-term sustainability.
  • Ensures consistent execution of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices across all Epic initiatives, promoting standardization and continuous improvement.
  • Monitors and reports on program-level performance metrics, providing executive-level insights and recommendations to support data-driven decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Leads vendor and partner collaboration efforts, managing high-level relationships with Epic and third-party providers to ensure alignment, accountability, and value delivery.
  • Supports innovation and optimization efforts, identifying opportunities to enhance Epic system capabilities, streamline workflows, and improve user experience across the organization.
  • Provides executive-level escalation and issue resolution, ensuring timely intervention and resolution of high-impact project challenges.
  • Drives organizational readiness for large-scale Epic implementations and upgrades, ensuring that infrastructure, training, and support models are in place for successful go-lives
