Position Title: General Manager - Manufacturing Operations - Primary/Hot Rolling Reports To: General Manager - Latrobe Location: Latrobe, PA Principal Purpose of Position: Manage and lead the activities of the manufacturing departments at the Latrobe Facility. This could include Melting, Press and Continuous Rolling Mill. Directly supervise department managers. Direct the activities of the Manufacturing organization to maximize improvement in safety, quality, delivery and cost. Lead the Operations team to completely new levels of accountability, clarity, and employee engagement from general manager to hourly employee. Perform the above being sensitive to the Carpenter culture while simultaneously dismantling roadblocks. Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned. General Profile Provides leadership and direction through senior managers; may also manage managers. Executes discipline and/or business plans and contributes to the development of discipline and/or business strategies. Decisions are guided by discipline and/or business strategies and priorities. Accountability: Accountable for the performance and results of related multiple areas or departments and/or function(s). Position Requirements Education and Training: Four year college degree in Business / Engineering field required. Experience: Ten or more years Manufacturing experience, including at least five years in a management role. Knowledge: Business/Management Expertise: Applies broad business and management expertise to drive financial and operational performance across multiple departments and/or functions. Functional Expertise: Has extensive knowledge and experience within own function and general knowledge of areas, departments and/or function(s) within and across other disciplines. Strategic Planning: Executes departmental and functional business plans and contributes to the development of discipline strategies. Financial Management: Directs the allocation of resources to meet financial performance requirements. Other: Practical understanding of industrial/manufacturing principles, standards, methods and practices. Knowledge of disciplined problem-solving methods. Knowledge of positive employee relations practices. Skills/Abilities: Problem Solving: Directs the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems that cross functions and/or disciplines. Customer Focus: Negotiates with customers and/or organizational leadership to set priorities; builds organization capabilities to serve customer needs.
