Ground Person

Job Summary:

As a Ground Person you will perform duties supporting logging, vegetation management and tree trimming related operations.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

* Work under supervision to safely trim trees, chip brush, and move vegetative material

* Safely and efficiently operate light equipment such as chainsaws, weed eaters, pole trimmers, and blowers.

* Safely and efficiently operate chippers, vehicles, and aerial lifts/bucket trucks from the ground

* Must be able to perform all aspects of trailer hauling and towing

* Maintain and implement safe work practices in accordance with industry standards or policies

* Must be able to regularly lift 50lbs or more

* Must be able to work outdoors, year-round in varying environments

* Must be able to work in, around and amongst poisonous plants and noxious vegetation

* Must be able to safely work around large logging equipment

* Assist with all aspects of logging and fuels reduction jobsites

* Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

* Education: High School Diploma or GED

* Experience: Greater than 6 months experience in the logging, tree care or vegetation management industry

* Valid Driver License

Preferred Qualifications:

Commercial Driver License: Class A or B

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

* Ability to regularly lift 50lbs or more

* Ability to receive direction or guidance

* Ability to work within a team

* Ability to communicate well with others

* Problem solving skills

* Recognition of safety hazards

Travel:

This position is expected to travel to project sites and locations within California (Operating Area)

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally requiredto stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Sites can be very hot and dusty.
