Overview
The Oncology Navigation Team supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the oncology navigation team, which includes, but is not limited to, nurses, social workers, dietitians, imaging navigators, and other support staff. The supervisor will be responsible for department personnel including hiring, orienting and coordinating training for new staff, annual staff evaluations, corrective action, payroll and staff scheduling, and performing the essential functions of navigation team members to cover for vacations/time off. The supervisor must effectively communicate both verbally and written with all patients, physicians, and staff. The supervisor will consistently utilize a holistic approach (considering physical, psychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area. Supervisor will seek the guidance of the oncology services manager as needed. The supervisor will also be responsible for compliance with accreditation standards and monitoring the development, implementation, and compliance with departmental policies including EMR documentation, workflows, quality improvement projects, and departmental growth initiatives. Assistance may be asked in the development of capital budget requests as well as support of the operational budget. Assistance will also be given towards adherence to the operational budget as it relates to efficient utilization of staff and the ordering of supplies including minor equipment. Qualifications Certifications: Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Course 1 year - Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON); National Nursing Certification within 3 years - Varies; Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA), Education: Bachelor's Degree, Work Experience: Responsibilities Recommend various personnel actions including but not limited to hiring, performance appraisals, discipline, and promotions. Ensures direct reports are adequately trained and are competent to perform all required job tasks. Resolves work related issues, or assists employees in solving work related issues, confers with manager to resolve more complex situations. Assists in development and review of department policies, procedures, and competencies. Maintain staff schedules. Ensures all direct reports are trained and competent on all procedures Balance team and individual responsibilities; be open and objective to other's views; give and welcome feedback; contribute to positive team culture; put the success of the team above own interests Functions effectively in an environment that is susceptible to change without notice Coordinate day-to-day department operations and provide support for staff Holds regular meetings with staff for information dissemination, education Provide leadership within the department in order to ensure efficient office operations, optimizing performance and continually improving the quality of care Recommend opportunities for process improvements and growth to department leadership Assist staff in resolving issues that arise Responsible for accountability of department metrics Provide budgetary input, as requested Facilitates daily communication with staff while continuously evaluating staff performance. Sets work routines, workflows, and reinforces standards of practice Works in collaboration with members of the interdisciplinary teams to assure care is coordinated across the continuum. Communicates effectively inter and intra departmentally with other healthcare professionals and customers to provide accurate, timely information and to reduce problems and minimize exceptions Communicates with the department manager/director and documents as necessary when problems or unusual circumstances arise Plans and schedules work for the group ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate staffing, space and facilities for performance of duties Maintains departmental employee records Monitor compliance with EMR documentation per department protocols About Us Find it here. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $39.13per hour - $67.3per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
