Day & Zimmermann is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of capital and maintenance projects within a fossil and gas combined cycle power plant environment. The Project Manager will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage budgets, ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and deliver projects on time and within scope. This role requires a strong understanding of power plant operations, construction management, and project controls specific to fossil and combined cycle generation facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and manage capital improvement, outage, and maintenance projects within the power plant.
  • Develop detailed project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Manage contractor and vendor relationships; oversee contract execution and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Lead project status meetings and provide regular reporting to senior management.
  • Work closely with plant operations, maintenance, engineering, and corporate support teams to ensure project alignment with plant operational goals.
  • Manage project change orders, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
  • Support outage planning, execution, and post-outage reviews.
  • Ensure quality assurance and adherence to industry best practices and company standards.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred OR 5+ years of project management experience in fossil fuel and/or combined cycle power plant environments.

  • Strong knowledge of gas turbine, steam turbine, heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), and balance-of-plant systems.
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar projects with complex schedules and multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage contractors and vendors.
  • Strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to power generation facilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent).
  • PMP certification preferred.


In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $95,000 - $171,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of union fringes).
